And the timeout menu is just as bad, too.

I seriously don't understand why they destroyed something that worked so perfectly well and replaced it with terrible pie-styled menus. I'm having a hard time navigating through menus and finding what I need.

Menus disappearing once an option is chosen. Do you know how annoying it is having to open the menu up again and again and again just to change my offensive/defensive plans? Holy **** is that counter-intuitive...

Why is the timeout screen so jumbled up? Why can't I make mass substitutions in the timeout screen? What the hell is going on there? What innovation was introduced there?

What's up with play calling? Once I hit L1/LB and choose a player to call a play for, the menu for plays should come up. Currently, all it does is closes and doesn't allow me to call a play unless I repeat the action. Wow.

That's just a couple. It's seriously off-putting and one of the worst menus I've used in any game I've ever played. I can't be the only one having troubles with it/that feels this way.

That's actually because if you do it really quick (LB+player icon) you're calling a p'n'r with that player as the screener. You have to slow down between L1 and the icon. Really I don't like that shortcut at all. It's inconsistent and happens when you don't want it to happen like in your exemple. If you do it too quick it messes you up. And when I consciously want to use that shortcut for a screen, sometimes I'am not fast enough and it brings up the plays menu instead.

I'am not 100% sure it was by design because it doesn't seem that good to me. Mostly agree with your other points though.

Thanks, that's good to know. How counter-intuitive also!

Omgggg I so agree with everything. The timeout is the most ridiculous thing ever. I still haven't figured out to sub. I know how to get to the section but im pretty sure it doesn't sub the players after that timeout and subs them at the next dead ball. I read about that in another post but can't find it now.

The menus are not quick at all. The whole menu disappearing after selecting one action and having to open the menu again to do adjustments is insane. At least hv an option in the pause menu then to do adjustments. Wtfff

I dont understand timeout subs at all. First off they are broken at least in MyLeague where the players dont even sub in 2nd of all where do you even see their current stamina level?

They made menus too fancy and way more complicated than they need to be. My only complaint so far this year.

Yep. It's a game-wide glitch. Subs don't come in until the next dead-ball which is the dumbest ****ing glitch ever. How does that even get into the game? Seriously, 2k?

That better be fixed after Patch 1.

It's shockingly bad. It's supposed to be streamlined but it felt clunky and covers too much screen space.

Was just one of the things that led me to trade in the game and go back to 2k16.

Re: Am I the only one that hates the on-the-fly menus this year?

For any developers reading this, I appreciate the new menu. I think it's so much better than 2k16. It's pretty intuitive. I really like the new substitution menu. Left stick to select the player currently on the court, and use Right stick to select the substitution you want to put in. I also like the new adjustments/sets menu.

During timeouts ... the following is basically your starting points.

During timeouts, for offensive/defensive adjustments....("adjustments" vs "sets")

(1) Press R1/L1 to toggle between Defense and Offense adjustments.
(2) Press the square button to make "adjustments"
(3) Press the triangle button for "sets"
(4) Press R2 or L2 to toggle between different adjustments.

That's pretty much it. That's the gist of it.

During timeouts ... for substitutions specifically ....

(1) push the left stick in the direction of the player that you want to select.
(2) Press R2 to bring up the substitution menu.
(3) push the right stick to highlight the substitute you want to bring in.

That's pretty much it. That's the gist of it.

Isn't it "holding down" your teammates' respective icon that calls for a pick and roll from that player?

Pick and roll:
(1) tap LB once - this brings up the icons above your teammates.
(2) hold the icon corresponding to the teammate you want to come set the screen.

Play calling:
(1) tap LB once - this brings up the icons above your teammates
(2) tap the icon corresponding to the teammate you want to call a play for.
(3) Then that box play art comes up. Press R1 or L1 to toggle through the different available plays for that player.
(4) Push the right stick in the direction of the play that you want.
