Let's Talk Online Lag...

Alright, admittidly im a sports gamer and i rarely step out of my comfort zone. I used to play COD offline with my friends, but never cared to step into the fray online and get mowed down at respawn points.

Well a few friends of mine convinced me to try the new Battlefield 1 beta which i enjoyed, but what was most impressive was the speed and responsiveness of the experience. It was incredible.

I couldn't believe how smooth everything was with so many combatants shooting it out on the ground, in the air, on horses, on trains and through destructible environments. Afterwards we tried to get a game of Pro-Am in and it was like playing on dial up by comparison. Everything was laggy as it's actually always been, but it was so much more noticeable after playing something that felt like I was playing on the couch with my friends.

With an emphasis on skills being the differentiating factor for 2k17, such a level of smooth gameplay should be the standard. Why is Battlefield so much better than NBA2k in this regard? How can this be improved?

Re: Let's Talk Online Lag...

Online gaming has been over the lag issue for more than a decade now I'd say. Games that have dedicated effort, time and resources to create decent servers do not have a significant amount of lag.

2k, on the other hand, does not dedicate enough effort, time and resources. In fact, they don't even discuss this topic.

I would honestly say that NBA2k is the only franchise in the high part of the sales ranking that has a biggest offline-online experience in terms of delay in the controls' response (lag).

Time to step up, 2k.

Absolutely agree. They don't need to talk esports if they don't step up their server game. It's ridiculous.

So Battlefield has a dedicated server while NBA 2k doesn't?
