Re: Sony PlayStation Meeting Discussion Thread

My final predictions -

1. Andrew House gets announced/introduced, welcomes everyone in attendance and watching live and starts the show with the official introduction and revealing of the leaked Sony PlayStation 4 Slim console with the slightly changed Dual Shock 4 controller. Console specs remain the same as the base PS4 except for the smaller chipsets that allow the price drop, etc. Announces the release date, official MSRP, hard drive size, etc. after the reveal in what turns out to be a very short segment.

Release Date - Tuesday, September 13, 2016
MSRP - $249.99 for 500GB, $299.99 for 2TB

2. Following the reveal of the PlayStation 4 Slim, Andrew House announces that the current base PlayStation 4 consoles are no longer being manufactured and that all bundles are receiving a price drop in order to clear out their entire inventory.

Effective Date - Tuesday, September 13, 2016
MSRP - $249.99 for all base PS4 bundles

3. With Andrew House remaining on stage, he announces the newest edition to the PlayStation ecosystem - Sony PlayStation Portable 2 (PSP2) which features a 5 inch screen showcasing games at 720P resolution. PSP2 is touch screen yet thankfully, has no back touch and is setup to the design and look of the PlayStation Vita but adds the L2/R2 buttons so all PlayStation 4 games can be remote played with very little compromise. PSP2 will also feature an HDMI OUT port so you can also play games on your HDTV in full screen (no black bars of any kind) 720P as well. PSP2 is on par with the base/slim PS4 in regards to the specs of the handheld. After the reveal and a very short demo video of the launch titles, Andrew House announces the release date, MSRP and says that a lot more information and game info will be released in the next few months.

Release Date - Tuesday, March 14, 2017
MSRP - $199.99

4. With Andrew House remaining on stage, he then talks about the future of console gaming and the PlayStation 4 ecosystem. He announces, introduces and reveals the PlayStation 4 NEO which is described as an updated and upgraded version of the current PlayStation 4 console. He welcomes Mark Cerny out onto the stage so he can describe the NEO in a better manner regarding all the technical aspects and what the benefits are to buying one. The console specs are accurate based on the leaked documents earlier this year. Cerny then shows a short demo of Uncharted 4 running side by side on the base PS4 and Neo with the Neo version running even smoother and at a full 1080P/60FPS in single player. Cerny also explains that despite the upgraded specs, all PlayStation 4 games will be fully playable and run on the entire trio of PlayStation 4 consoles (base, slim and neo) and that Neo is for those who want their games to have an extra boost. After that, Andre House comes back on stage to announce the release date and price.

Release Date - Tuesday, September 27, 2016
MSRP - $399.99 for 500GB, $449.99 for 1TB and $499.99 for 2TB

5. In closing, Andrew House remains on stage to announce a game reveal that's been long overdue and is one of the most anticipated games by fans despite not being officially announced until now. Andrew House thanks everyone for attending on those watching at home and walks off stage. Once he clears the stage, the screen then showcases the game reveal...Rockstar Games presents Red Dead Revolution. A short story gameplay video with PlayStation 4 exclusive content is shown. At the end of the video, a release date appears - Tuesday November 15, 2016. - Screen fades to black and the PlayStation Meeting officially ends.

Those are my predictions regarding the PlayStation Meeting. Can't wait for Wednesday!!!

1. I think that will happened and if the 500 GB slim is 250 man it is going to sale like crazy!

2. Yeah I think that could happened maybe even the day after so September 8th.

3. I really don't think that will happened. Vita was such a flop and Nintendo controls the handhelds. I don't think Sony is going to make any more handhelds.

4. Yeah I can see that happing only I think Sony will go with just a 1 TB and 2 TB hard drive and for the price of 400 and 450. I am not sure if the NEO will come out before October but we will see.

5. Yeah I think there have been a lot of rumors of that.

Re: Sony PlayStation Meeting Discussion Thread

Looks like the meeting is at noon pacific time. I have college in till about 3:30 that day hopefully I don't get a lot of home work that day. The day after is the begging of NFL season and my church group starts up again on that day that the NFL season starts to and I also work Thursday. If I get a lot of home work on Wednesday and with church group, work and NFL season the next day I may not be able to watch the meeting for a few days.

Re: Sony PlayStation Meeting Discussion Thread

This jumped out at me (nitpicks aside, like you don't say 'we aren't making it anymore so here's a price cut' - you just say 'the slim is this amount, which is now the base price of the PS4' and retailers proceed to discount them out of their systems):
PSP2 is on par with the base/slim PS4 in regards to the specs of the handheld.
How are you expecting that kind of performance from a handheld at $199?

Yeah regular ps4 is not even 199 and most likely will not be in till late next year and isn't handhelds kind of behind and more expensive then consoles? So say ps4 is 250 after this wouldn't a hand held with that kind of power cost like 300-350 or something?

Re: Sony PlayStation Meeting Discussion Thread

I think NEO will be more powerful then most of the rumors. Maybe not the power of Scorpio but I do think Sony will have upped the power some to make it closer. The rumors had Sony at like 4.2 TF compared to Scorpio 6. I think Sony will have upped it to like 5 or high 4s like 4.8 or something. Also power is not ever thing. Sony brand name is a big advantage over Micorsoft and if they can make NEO some what close to Scorpio in power and cheaper with also like a year head start that is going to make up for the power difference and with being a year before Scorpio they could always do a price cut to the NEO right around the time the Scorpio comes out.

Few reasons. First, the PSP2 $200 price tag is low because Sony would want to undercut Nintendo's NX which if the hybrid rumors are true, are said to be a handheld/portable console first and a home console second. Second, after the disaster of Vita in which it was too expensive and the memory card prices were and still are a joke, Sony will be going right after the gamers who want a new Sony handheld and the best way to do that is by having an excellent price. Sony will be able to take a loss on the handheld due to the massive profits they're making with PS4. Add in the $10 price increase for PlayStation Plus and that will help make up the cost. Third, if the games are good, more of them will sell and the console manufacturers make the majority of their money on selling games so that would help reduce the cost.
