Most Important Improvement Needed For UFC 3

In each fight (that's not a snoozefest) the *most* important seconds are those when one fighter is hurt and the other is trying to finish. In particularly exciting fights, there might be a few of these sequences, but overall, they're pretty rare...but VERY important from a gameplay perspective.

A total revamp of the rocked/finish the fight/ground and pound sequence is the most critical feature needed for UFC 3

Discuss.

IMO it all needs a full overhaul. From what types of strikes, damage accumulation, and vulnerability windows lead to rocked states; to different 'types' of being rocked; to ways to defend/attack in such a state --- time to re-build it from the ground up.

A couple of my thoughts to get the discussion going

* There really needs to be an option to try and lock-in a submission when you have your opponent hurt and on the ground. Perhaps even flying submissions/guilliotines if you have that in your moveset --- but for myself as an example, a wrestler/boxer, I won't be going for a flying armbar or heel hook if my opponent is dazed. I'd rather get him on the ground and pound him out; *OR* if it looks like I can't finish him w/ punches, jump in for a quick unexpected choke --- perhaps one that is only 3 stages instead of 5, and/or gives you a boost to gate speed, since your opponent is hurt

* A sort of "long-term" rock status would be interesting. Let's say you get SMASHED early in the first round. You survive and eventually get up. But for the rest of the round, you're a bit wobbly...your punches aren't as crisp...pretty much, you have some brain damage, and it didn't wear off just because you stood up after taking 30 hammerfists

We've all seen it --- someone is doing well in a fight but gets messed up bad...they're never the same again in that fight; or at least, it takes a round or TWO to recover, if they're a warrior

* Something has to be done about the invisible wall high block. I don't know what, but something, lol --- I'm *sort of* thinking the way fight night champion handled 'auto block' --- the guard will break down after enough strikes; but more importantly, different, REALISTIC combinations will break it much easier than just throwing same garbage spam over and over.

This does not mean I want to bring back Weak Block from UFC 1 !!! I hate that crap!!! lol ... I think making someone choose High or Low is good, overall. But we need some dynamic breaking of the guard; ESPECIALLY during the 'finish the fight' scenarios

Let's hear what you got when it comes to improving Rocked States / Finish The Fight Sequences !

Yeah, I agreed. It's very very very important issue. I really disappointed the gameplay about tko scenario and finish the fight Sequences. They should revamp it for the next game.

Re: Most Important Improvement Needed For UFC 3

first off lets stop worrying about the next game when some of the stuff could easliy be patched in to this game i am tried of seeing threads like this people talking like this is the reason year after year ea puts out crap versions because people who settle. this game just came out a few months ago andd there is 0 reason that a new version should come out for atleast another year or 2 UT will make them plenty of monney its not like one of the big sports game were there are 1000 curent players and a few hunder new players need every year the ufc has a roster size of what 150ish fighters and at most 5-10 new fighters that could be added a month and thats easy to just patch in and with a few improvment to this game alone on word of mouth with greatly increase the player base

1 the amount of time dmg last need to be greatly increased if u have a part flashing red it should not go back to gray in less than 30 seconds it should take till the end of the round or at least a few min
2 moveing backwards rocked or not u should not be able to move as fast as some one moveing forward even if they changed it to 90%/85% if rocked whould make a huge diffenece
3 the blocking but if 1-2 are put in this wont be as big a problem
4 MATCHMAKEING / THE DELETE CAF exploit this alone will make the game 1million times better and bring back a lot of players no one wants to fight a guy 10-15 ovr and or 2-3 division higer than them 80% of the time this was changed becaus the top 10% of the players were not getting fast enough matches and it was the bigest bs move that punishes anyplayer who started late is a casual fighter or just not that good or dose not have the time or money to drop

Re: Most Important Improvement Needed For UFC 3

I feel your pain Wolf....

....but 95%+ of the game is completed and finished and won't be patched going forward....

Especially new animations (which is what they'd need to re-vamp Finish The Fight)

There definitely ARE several areas they COULD tweak very easily. I've written many threads about them, and I hope some will be fixed up (and some already have been fixed up! Which was nice)

But in the end.....we just gotta deal with the fact that there is only one, MAYBE two more gameplay patches left....and I don't expect much more than minor tweaks.

So while THIS GAME still has some potential to be improved significantly with some tweaks; there are some fundamental areas (i.e. Finish The Fight Sequence) that cannot be patched and need to be re-worked totally in next game

Re: Most Important Improvement Needed For UFC 3

I just hate the broken ground KO/TKO animations haha, even in ranked I always let me opponents get up so I can KO them because of how unsatisfying KO/TKO are on the ground. Especially when they defend it's the worst, you hit his hand with what usually looks like a hand that breaks in the process of punching, it doesn't even hit his blocking hand and he gets KO'd.

And after the KO the follow up punches don't even land.. which sucks when you try to make someone pay for sucker punching or slapping you.

Remember how satisfying GnP was in Undisputed? even in 2009 (the first UFC game by THQ)

Re: Most Important Improvement Needed For UFC 3

i fully understand that not everything will be fixed or cant be fixed with just a simple patch but if they dontr make at least 1-2 major fixes that can be done then no one is going to buy the new game or if they do thhere will be done with it in just a few months and have a player base of next to 0 when madden fifa and nba what ever come out how many people have keep playing madden this year not only after the end of the season but thru the 4th of july promo or stoped playig nba2k becaus they stoped adding stuff before the playoff were over this game should have a the maddden model handled with ease since the sport is based around monthly major events(ppv) and many other events that happen during the month (fightnight tuf)
if they want a game to be played year round all they have to do is show us they care and put in the work or if they dont care if there game is just and off season filler game like everyother fighting game do nothing and we will be gone bye kickoff of week one of the nfl season becaus no one has enough hours in the day for 2 major sports games

Just get rid of it basically. They aren't what people wanted IMO. People just wanted to be able to keep striking after they finished an opponent. They need to just have rocked states that have the speed boost and a stamina jump. Don't even call it "Finish the Fight". That is what we try to do all the time. They can have the camera do something after you finished them, but we never really had a "Finish the Fight" in Undisputed either. Yes, there are times like knocking someone down the screen would zoom in. I guess you can refer to that as the FTF. However, people just wanted to be able to keep striking after a KO/TKO. They took this out of Undisputed 2010 and had to put it back because we wanted our "Finish the Fight". That is where that came from. It wasn't a sequence really that played out when someone was rocked. They had the screen change, but people were more concerned with striking after a stoppage. It was kind of a way to say "F U" to an annoying opponent. At least that is the only time I used it.

Worry more about giving us the tools to finish than the sequence itself.

Re: Most Important Improvement Needed For UFC 3

It would be cool if you could do a reversal into a submission.

I was practising my ground game last night and some guys just kept spamming transitions and i thought to myself, wouldn't it be cool if i could just counter his transition into a submission?

I think that should be added, gives the defensive player some more tools.
