Performance 5

I'm thinking of starting a new dynasty and setting my coach at Performance 5. It used to be one of my house rules to not do that, but I haven't seen a lot of difference between Perf 3 and 5 for HC, having skilled coaches leave, nothing other than starting fresh with a new team with your playbook for that time period when you're learning the playbook.

So what are your feelings on that Performance level for your coaches?

I have not tried it because I heard it would make you too good to fast but I don't know if that's really the case or not. I put it to 3 and try to build up other areas.

Re: Performance 5

It does make you very good very fast-but the difference is marginal. Performance 3 means you might win the Super Bowl your 3rd or 4th year. Performance 5 you have a chance to win it the second year. I'm just not sure the difference is enough to not start with max performance to start a career.

Re: Performance 5

If you have the ability to edit rosters I'd suggest giving all of your opponents perfect coaching in all phases. It made the game significantly harder and actually challenging at times. Its been over a year since I played. I might have to buy another PS3 just to get back into this game.

Re: Performance 5

From all I understand, it's a very time consuming process to edit rosters. It'd be different if there was roster you could just put on a flash drive, but until that day comes I'll have to stick with standard rosters.

Re: Performance 5

For me it always depended on what other things were going on in my franchise. A 5 in performance wasn't too bad unless I had other special skills unlocked for my coach. I always felt like if I had a 5 in performance, it only started to really get out of hand if I had a lot of the special skills unlocked to stack with it.

The way I looked at it was that performance was just a way to get the best out of the talent you had organically. Low performance meant the talent didn't perform up to their ability, high performance meant I could get them to do a little better than what their stats said they could.

The special skills around running, blocking, passing and catching, however, always felt a little bit like the same kind of boosts, just more artificial in my mind for some reason. I didn't usually take many of them except for the run blocking tree. I think those are way more of an issue in terms of difficulty than performance is.

I also didn't use sliders either, so that might be a consideration. Performance stacked with sliders might be a little more powerful.

Either way, I don't think performance by itself is going to be something that's going to throw the game out of whack. Like I said, I think it's more what combination of other skills might be stacking with it. But, if you've been playing this game since it came out I'm not sure there's much you can do to ramp up the difficulty too much at this point anyway. Just the level of familiarity with the game at this point is a major boost to your effectiveness as it is.

That's just all my opinion though.
