How will the sale of the UFC to the new owners affect EA UFC 3?

There has always been speculation that the current owners of the UFC wants full control of the decision of the fighter ratings, Also numerous other things. I just wonder what type of things can the devs do now compared to before the sell?

Or does this sell mean the end of this game series??

If Sean Shelby and Joe Silva stay on as well, I'm wondering what will change. The new company might see making the game more of a game and let the open weight and other things go to try and bring in more players. That is the type of thing that I want to know. Would help to know who was saying what, and their justifications. If the new company wants to keep the UFC the way it is, nothing might change.

There is always hope though.

Hopefully they'll let EA have equal or *more* say in future games

The franchise has some momentum now --- the next game will make or break the entire future of EA UFC --- let's hope new owners either let it be; or better yet; double the resources available for UFC 3

The resources would likely be determined by this game's sales still. They know this is a niche market. UFC 2 sold much better, but is still not producing like it had. Could be though. Don't know the figures. Just know Undisputed 3 was the best game, and worst sales for the THQ franchise.

My hope is that the new owners wont care about things like attributes or player editing. Hopefully it will be like any other game and we can edit everything.

Just read an old article that said THQ had to sell 2,000,000 copies of UFC 3 just to break even on it. Yikes!

UFC 2 has sold right over 1mil copies worldwide for PS4 and XB1 combined per vgchartz.

Thats THQ's fault. The licensing of Pride fighters likely cost them a ton.
