AMA Reddit Interview with Rex, Clint, & John,(38min)

Nothing that could be considered earth-shattering, but a lot of questions were answered, about gameplay and CFM.

One thing that was really interesting was how the souped up ratings in mode used for the Madden championship contributed greatly to the success of nanos and other exploits in the game. This was partly caused by the disconnect between the MUT and gameplay team. Going forward there will be more interaction between the two in order to ameliorate that kind of play.

So @ 9:35 the question was brought up again about Formation Subs, and Rex didn't sound so convincing this time about patching it in. He said "hopefully before Madden 18 ships", but I'm not exactly sure what that means.

So you're saying there's a chance!

Having them in M17 would be nice, but he all but confirmed they will be in M18. That's good enough for me.

It means "hope for it coming somewhere along the line like XP sliders snuck into last year's game mid-cycle".

So, I'd like to say a few things about this interview.

(1) - First of all, mad props to Rex and his team for going over there to do an AMA. Reddit is traditionally one of the toughest and most negative outlets to discuss Madden. Some of that is because we don't tolerate the incessant agenda posting and general rude, socially inept drama here, but I also get the feeling there is a more casual crowd there that doesn't really interact with the sim / gamechanger community.

(2) - The nod to 2K's customization is a big deal for me and very positive. People want a sim based game on the field but they want a sandbox off of it. They need to really emphasize customization.

(3) - When we finally get custom draft classes, they need to do it online. It needs to incorporate elements from Teambuilder AND Fifa's Creation Centre from the 360 generation where you could stitch teams together with pre-created players. The PC template will allow for mass editing, randomization in certain subsets, incorporation of pre-created players and also the ability to more effectively do all the work. Having custom draft classes all on the console would be WAY to much work for a commissioner to do. Let the community build a creation database online.
