Torn between 40 man V3 and 40 man Hybrid. What are the major differences?

First off, I'd like to say how much I appreciate the hard work of everyone who created them.

I'm looking to start an offline franchise and use Nomo's sliders. The way I use the game is a little unique. I don't actually play. I set up all 30 teams to be controlled by the CPU and let the season play out with the CPU playing the games. Later on, I'll start another franchise and play with my Atlanta Braves.

Which set would you recommend?

The O.S.F.M. sets(non-hybrid) leave the SCEA player ratings intact.
I think especially since it's all CPU play the "stock" sets are the way to go.

In the Hybrid roster, no player goes untouched. Every player is rerated based on Steamer projections, and pitchers have their correct pitch repertoires (WTNY's pitch edits). Loads of testing went into achieving realistic sim results over multiple franchise years, and results from actually playing with the roster are true-to-life as well. I would definitely recommend giving the Hybrid roster a shot.

Does the hybrid work well for a long term multiple season franchise? Like do generated draft classes mesh well into this set?

Hybrid all the way. SCEA ratings are extremely spotty at best.

Listen....I'm not knocking they Hybrid set.
Great set.
But nobody and I mean NOBODY has simmed/tested and simmed more than I have.
I'm VERY confident in that statement.

For me it's beyond just what stats get spit out.
(and both are more than adequate at that)
The SCEA stock players mesh much better with incoming draft classes than re-rated rosters do IMO and is one of the main reasons I don't mess with them much. Especially entire re-rates.
I also think that progression/regression is tuned for SCEA rated players and over the long haul it shows.

This is absolutely not a knock on the Hybrid as the pitch arsenal's could use a look over from SCEA and some of the speeds and defensive ratings.
But even those...if you consider them out of line with a prevailing thought of what they "should" be ......have to work in line with SCEA's game engines.

After going to S.D. and speaking with Brian about this....and him showing me the correlations between the two....I saw the light of his thinking and went "stock" from there out.

But in the end....it's really a personal preference IMO.

Well, you & WTNY must have simmed an awful lot combined. I know he did a lot of simming too. I'm pretty sure he made the same statement above as you did. Not trying to make this a competition but I have to throw in what WTNY posted as well. Thanks!
