 National Association Announced January 1, 1871 A new baseball league was announced today, the National Association. The National Association will begin play this April. Teams will play 56 games, 4 games home and away. The top 2 teams will meet for a best-of-7 series to decide the National Association Champion. There will be a 15 round Amateur Draft after the first season and every season moving forward. There will be 8 teams to start the 1871 season: Boston Beans Chicago Athletes Cleveland Spiders Ft. Wayne Wizards New York Nationals Philadelphia Quakers Troy (MI) Trojans Washington (DC) Generals |
