Chris Sale's contract.

Probably the one instance in the game where a player's default contract is much more massive ($20 mill a year? Really?) than it actually is in real life. Anyone have a good recommended amount I should put it at? I placed it at 8.5/year but I'm looking for a more to scale deal. One of the best things about Sale is his very team friendly deal and it kinda sucks not being able to take advantage of this fully and being able to put more pieces around him in the game. Thanks!

Re: Chris Sale's contract.

Sales real deal has 4 yrs remaining at approx. 46M to 48M total salary. Those aren't bad numbers to use even in this game IMO. They aren't 20M per year knock you down, and not 4 to 6M where the guy seems free almost. So I'd look at doing a 4 yr deal at 46 to 48M and let the game split the terms per year up an where it goes something like 9M, 11M, 13M, 15M for '16 thru '19.

I don't know what's worse, the fact he has a $20 million deal in the Show,
or the fact that said contract negatively affects his morale from the outset,
as he expects $25.2 mill. Prima donna, indeed.

My issue is that if I'm going to make his contract realistic than I should bump up all the contracts that aren't accurate and actually worse deals in real life and I don't think I want to do all that.

^^^ Great tool to use for contracts/salaries for all sports. I use it for both MLB and NHL games. Chris Sale has five years and $32.5 million left on his contract (expiring 2020), which averages out to $6.5 million per season.

That's not entirely true. He signed the contract in 2012. His 5 year started then, so it was a $6.5 average from that point. His guaranteed money ends after the 2017 season. There are 2 team options for 2018 & 2019 for 12.5 & 15.0.

Yeah the deal expires in 19 (assuming options are pick up which as of now is likely). But since you can't make those 2 option years, might as well put it at 4.
