Pitcher covering 1st base.

I have yet to have my pitcher reach 1st base on hits in between 1st and second basemen. Is this an issue for anyone else? I haven't seen this posted yet.

Re: Pitcher covering 1st base.

I had that issue on my RttS 1b a lot. And my RttS as has lost a few dp's from slow coverage on plays started by the 1b.

Re: Pitcher covering 1st base.

I have the same issue using my RttS pitcher. I think the problem is two fold

1 - The ridiculous idea that every RttS 18 -21 Yo pitcher drafted is slower than Big Papi

2 - I get "stuck" (the end of an animation?) that delays my input reaction 1 to 2 secs. So I am pushing the stick to 1st to run over there but the Pitcher is still on the mound. By the time the Pitcher runs to 1st the runner is already 3/4 of the way down the line.

Also the idea that the 1st baseman can't initiate a DP and go back to 1st for the completion when he is close enough (this issue was there last year also)

Re: Pitcher covering 1st base.

The problem is that SCEA gives most pitchers a near-zero rating for speed, most likely because they feel it's not important enough to calculate each pitcher's speed rating... But meanwhile Yadier Molina and David Ortiz each have around a 20 or so...

I don't expect SCEA to take the time and dish out proper speed ratings for each and every pitcher, but giving them all zeroes instead of giving them all 40's is a huge mistake/oversight, and disrupts the balance between fielding and baserunning in multiple ways.

They do, but they have to be really, really close.

So that makes it more infrequent than it probably should be.

So increasing their speed solves the problem?

Re: Pitcher covering 1st base.

It wouldn't hurt. Give him a 40 or so like Bobhead mentioned unless they are faster.

Re: Pitcher covering 1st base.

As far as RTTS pitchers are concerned, this is a LEGACY issue. Why can't they make it where if you are controlling a fielder without the ball, you could press the botton corresponding to the base and another button (R1/R2, L1/L2, or whatever) to have your fielder run to that base. This is an issue that has gone untouched for WAY too long in RTTS.
