No More Tank: His Airness to the Rescue | 76ers MyLeague | 2K16

Explanation
For those of you who only really like MyLeague and/or MyGM stories that stick to being as realistic as possible, then this probably isn’t for you. What I’ve done is take Michael Jordan from the 1985-1986 Bulls and put him on the present day 76ers. It’s time to end the tank and the seasons of comically terrible futility. But that’s all I did to start: add 22 year old, 90 overall MJ to the worst roster in the league.

Secondly, I had to fix the puzzling draft day decisions of Philly the last several years where they took three big men; three big men with a lot of potential, but still three players who essentially play the same position. I know I could experiment with Noel at PF but that kills floor spacing. So, I had to decide which of the three to keep. I went with Embiid. He’s my personal favorite of the bunch and I think in a more “perfect”, virtual world where he won’t be a constant, never-ending injury risk, he has the most two-way upside of the three. Thus, I traded Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel.

Lastly, I simmed the 2015-2016 season. I played a few games here and there to get a feel for what I had on my roster, but I wanted to get to the off-season so I could get my draft pick and better flesh-out my roster. Meaning, I will be picking this story up at the beginning of the 2016-2017 season.

Jahlil Okafor Trade

76ers Receive: Robin Lopez & NYK 2018 1st round pick
Knicks Receive: Jahlil Okafor & Jakarr Sampson

Nerlens Noel Trade

76ers Receive: Ryan Anderson
Pelicans Receive: Nerlens Noel & MIA 2016 1st round pick

His Airness to the Rescue

Philadelphia, PA -- It’s been a string of comically terrible futility and historic losing streaks for the Philadelphia 76ers. The type of futility and awfulness that could understandably drive loyal fans out of their fanatical minds and into the soothing arms of another NBA franchise with more hope. SO when the 76ers had a chance to sign a young and upcoming superstar in Michael Jordan, it was an opportunity that could not be wasted. Jordan, just 22 years old, had a historically great rookie season in which he averaged 28.2 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 5.4 APG, and 1.9 SPG while shooting 51.3% from the field. Unfortunately for Jordan, he was sidelined for all but 18 games of his second season but still managed to average 22.7 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 2.9 APG, and 2.1 SPG in just 25.1 MPG; and of course he had an unforgettable 63 point performance in the playoffs against the Boston Celtics. Inexplicably, though, the Bulls were scared off by news from team doctors after thorough exams on his foot, fearing it could be a lingering issue that could cut the promising young player’s career short. Thus, Chicago decided not to pick up Jordan’s team option after his second season, allowing Philly GM Sam Hinkie to jump on the opportunity of a lifetime.

“I’m very thankful for the opportunity Mr. Hinkie has given me. I felt like my foot was fine, and would not be an issue going forward, but the front office in Chicago felt differently. Mark my words, though, they will seriously regret their decision from this day forward,” said Jordan at his introductory press conference.

Fastforward to the summer of 2016, and, at least temporarily, things look to be headed in the right direction for the 76ers. Jordan averaged 25.3 PPG, 6.2 RPG, and 5.4 APG as the 76ers improved their win total to 25. That may not seem like drastic improvement, but given that the 76ers won 19 games in 2014 and 18 games in 2015, 25 wins is a definite step in the right direction. Still, that record was in the bottom five of the league and the 76ers held two top 10 draft picks: 3rd and 7th. With those picks Philly nabbed swingman sharpshooter Brandon Ingram out of Duke and combo guard marksman Jamal Murray out of Kentucky.

Free agency saw the 76ers land wing Gerald Green (2yr/$16.41M); veteran big man Amir Johnson (2yr/$23.52M); and athletic swingman Shabazz Muhammad (2yr/$20.45M). For the first time in awhile it appeared that the 76ers had a direction...and purpose. They had something that resembled an NBA roster at every position with NBA caliber players and young talent at multiple positions. Now it’s time to sit back, kick our feet up, and see how it unfolds.

Yeah, I could've gotten better but I really just wanted to focus on my two top 10 picks in the 2016 draft and free agency to rebuild my roster.
