Slow animations and dribbles are not how you improve defense effectiveness.

The real problem is slow defensive movement and bad angles taken by the defender. Regardless of how you try and D someone up, since there are no true physics in the game people can just morph though you. Try and cut off a pass by getting in the way of the receiver and the hoop results in him blowing passed you, catch and finish. If you try and cut off the ball to the receiver and hopefully you get the right animation even if you time it correctly.

Last year we had the same issues but were compounded with offensive players having the control edge. They could move around without penalty, defense couldn't.

Why is it i can meet someone at the rim but they get to blow past me or barrel through me to complete their heavily contested layup while i stand idly by desperately mashing triangle hoping to disrupt their shot?

There needs to be a system that is balanced for both sides. And this game of "what animation do i get this time?" is really lazy it feels like.

I want my controls to do what they say in the menus. I can't stand trying to go strong to the hoop and have my player do a ridiculously slow layup just to get swatted by the defender i just broke down.

They advertised foot planting, and never being stuck in an animation.

Just because offensive shot success is down this year doesn't mean defense is more effective. In fact, it means you just penalized both sides somewhat more equally.

I wish the game went back to it's roots as the most responsive and fluid game on the market. Rather than bogging down the offense so the same horrible defense can catch up.

Re: Slow animations and broken dribbles are not how you improve defense effectiveness

Most of the times i control C under the rim and when smaller players attack basket i play defense only with L2 (hands up defense) and many times my defender gets stuck into animation where he crushes attacker on the floor aggresively (borderline flagrant)..so much of that you can't be sucked into animation.

Another thing is animation where attacker bumps defender what looks like charging foul but you only get blocking foul and player on the floor (defender) always makes that face and crashes his hands on the floor. (charging fouls are non existent).

There is also animation when you stand in paint area with defender and if attacking player got posterizer or high dunk rating, there comes animation where you ain't able to jump but you are sucked into 'poster animation'.

Game needs to fully implement physics and bumping situations and remove those 'scripted animations' because of them we got scripted game, i play sports game solely because of surprise element and 'anything can happen' state of mind but these animations really makes game predictable and rigged.

i hate delayed dribbling so much, its not only online just incase someone brings it up. There are instances where I attempt to do a between the leg cross at the perfect moment, but the player decides to do it 2 seconds later when the opponent is too close. The move would subsequently lead to a turnover for attempting a cross to close to an opponent.

2K very obviously has issues making the defense better in the game. Over the last 3 years, they've put in ways to limit the offense - delays, stutter steps, etc. - so the D will APPEAR to be better. It's terrible and it feels like I have less and less control over the game each year. This year (especially after this last patch) it feels the worst. 2K16 is a great game but the amount of control they take away from the player so they can just play god mode on the game is bad.

My understanding was the last patch kind of eliminated the stutter/hitch when trying to explode out of sig/iso moves. It seemed to work for a few days, but now I am seeing it quite literally every second possession for both my players and the cpu. It's sad that I can keep Chris Paul on lock about 60% of the time with just about any defender I want.

It's really bad and totally ruins the games flow. 2kanimations are truly rearing their ugly head in order to replicate some semblance of defense but in my opinion, we as NBA fans and gamers aren't fooled.

I've been preaching about these canimations for some years now. 2Ks interpretation of better D is bandaid D. These slow animations and floating passes need to go as well. I want full control of my player not animations taking over when I don't want

They water down the offense as their way of putting defense in the game. The shot grade system is the worst implementation I've seen In some time with the game missing on what's open and what's not open. U can contest late and change the shot grade from "A" to a "D". Blocks was unrealistic and probably done on purpose to further boost the defense and thinking we was going to accept it.
