Extra step when wide open.

Why do players take an extra step instead of shooting the wide open look? Pau Gasol never does that, yet in the game he always does it. Sometimes they take an extra step TOWARDS the defender which results in a miss...

Yup. Caused me to lose a game at the buzzer once. I was down by 3. Had Klay wide open at the 3 pt line, passed him the ball and he stepped in front of the line as time expired. Thus causing me the game.

Baffles me, it's a convenient move within context but it seems to have propensity to trigger at the most inopportune times.

I never noticed it to be honest. Before I clicked the thread I was thinking about how my players are extra few steps out at the 3pt line when posting up and ending up shooting a long 3. Must be certain players that do this extra step when wide open because I know if I saw that a lot it would piss me off.

Yes sir, it happens way too much and it almost always benefits the defense. It's annoying to see how you give a good pass to a wide-open team mate and then he inexplicably makes that move to get CLOSER to defender for a contested shot that shouldn't have happened. It would be nice if they adressed it...
