My Sliders

Hey!

I've been getting a few pm's asking my sliders and tactics, so rather than type it all out over & over, I'll just do it once and leave it here.

I'm not sure the sliders work without the tactical changes as i can only say what outcomes and gameplay i'm getting and everything i'm doing to get it.

Also, i'm of the opinion universal sliders don't work for everyone. everyone has different reaction times, different ways of defending & attacking.

I like to play realistically (was a former Right Back at state & first grade level) and not abuse my sprint button on defense running from player to player. So i marry a little real world tactics into the video world.

if i've been under attack for a period, if i win the ball back, i simply pass it around the back and let everyone get their breath back. I like to cross the ball and switch sides regularly and mostly i'm patient trying to break the CPU down ... unless i go down a goal and it reaches the 60th minute, where from there i slowly ramp up my efforts and tactics trying to get that goal back.

conversely this leaves me open to counter attacks and good sides will split you open.

just like real life. funny that.

Sprint 50/50
Acceleration 50/50
Shot Error 53/53
Pass Error 52/58
Shot Speed 50/50
Pass Speed 50/50
Injury Freq 60/60
Injury Severity 40/40
GK Ability 23/23
Marking 45/45
Run Freq 50/50
Height 53/53
Length 47/47
Width 53/53
Fullbacks 50/50
First Touch 53/60

Then go into your team management page and change your team's tactics to this:

Pressure -- 40+ this gets your defensive line off the the edge of the box and you midfield start looking to engage the CPU attackers once they cross halfway. I use 40 as my standard, then bump it up to 90 if it's late and I'm chasing a goal!

Aggression -- Any setting over 62 will start to have your back four looking to actively step up into the play and break up passes and look to tackle & dispossess CPU ball handlers. I use 65 as my general setting and bump it up to 95 late in the game if I'm chasing a goal.

Home & Away games.

Home

As a rule, the CPU will play differently. Aggressive teams that are noticeably better than yours will still press and push the tempo, but by and large this all applies.

... ever notice at home you can pass out the back from your goalie from a goal kick and the CPU doesn't challenge or press you?

The CPU will sit back more when you're playing at home. They'll pass it around their back more and they'll be more conservative.

I take advantage of this by using a much more aggressive formation.

A 4-3-3 (basically import Barcelona's game sheet into your teamsheet from the main menu, and then it will be available in your MM play.)

Notice the tactical settings. 60 pressure; 65 Aggression. your team will press higher up the park and not allow the CPU much time on the ball.

this is a great strategy at home to push the play and score some goals.

Away

Away I set up with the standard Fifa 16 formation.

4-2-3-1

That's a back four, two CDM's a front three of LM-CAM-RM and a lone striker.

Set your CDM in player instructions to "Aggressively intercept passes"

this will have your CDMS soak up the space or the passing lanes in your formation, making the dreaded CPU Driven Pass a non-issue. By having men in this passing hole or lanes, the CPU will devise other ways to get around you.

I also like to have my RB set to "always overlap" he'll find his way regularly into the opposing box with default FB position sliders (50/50) and then set your RM to "always come back on defense" this will have your RB & RM actively swap and change throughout the game. ie if your RB makes it into the box, your RM will slink out the back and look to cover a fast counter attack or collect a long clearance from the CPU.

Also on your controller, use your Park the Bus, defend, balanced and all out attack options.

Last 15 minutes of games where i'm leading i swap to a 5-4-1 and bring on an extra CB off the bench and park the bus. I change my tactic to "Counter attack"

just hoof it away from danger. or clear with a lofted pass and try and get your striker on the end of it for a counter attack of your own. I've scored many goals like this and turned 1-0 leads into 3-nil victories.

So there it all is. If i've forgotten anything i'll add to it.

Hopefully you score some goals and have some fun. afterall that's why we're here. to have fun.

Re: My Sliders

Here's a twitch I'm running. I'm clueless about twitch, but hopefully it works and the video can be viewed afterwards?

I was asked to do this from Matt's feed the other night as a bit of a challenge to prove pass speed at 40 and over doesn't degenerate into a an arcadey mess.

i'll let everyone else judge. lol

It's Day 18 in my Football Championship League. Portsmouth Away to Wolves.

So all my away settings, formation & tactics are on.

Re: My Sliders

Line settings are tough!

Ever since using Evertoniansteeler's base set, I've drawn 2 and lost 2. big difference is in the midfield. Things get really intense and tight in there with lots of tackles and change of possession.

I've been hit on the counter and scored against twice just from this new midfield pressure from the CPU. I'm liking it a lot.

Just as a point. Before these line settings I averaged 28+ (lots of games where the CPU would have 20 shots alone!) Now I'm averaging 20 shots. At halftime of the first streamed game the CPU had 5 shots and I had 3 with none on target!

All in all, the stream went well. The CPU would tiki-taka and get a roll on at times, but it was always within the context of the game. I went behind a goal and pressed more and higher up the pitch.

this pushes me out of shape and formation and opens the holes for the CPU to exploit. Anyone who watches the Premier League regularly wil always here the commentators talk about this, so imo it's realism writ large.

I was taking more risks with passes and getting caught on the counter. I even gave up a goal when i sent everyone into all out attack for a corner and the CPU went coast-to-coast and scored on me.

I'm done for now ... the archive video is up, 2 games for two losses 2-1. at the end of each game I showed the stats screen.

Re: My Sliders

Actually, if someone can tell me how to archive my streams, that might be good. I can't seem to figure it out. haha

Not sure of gamespeed (assume slow), but he was playing WC last night's stream.

Re: My Sliders

Although I feel I've stumbled upon a set of sliders I really enjoy, I am very interested in your thoughts behind the team sliders. I haven't really used them properly, meaning I went pretty extreme on them the time I did use them, but I will definitely try your suggestions on pressure and aggression.

Very much looking forward to seeing if that brings back the one aspect of the game I'm missing at the moment.
