The game has an expiration date?

This is the first 2K Sports game I've played in at least five years, and while I've found it's a great game, I was surprised when I noticed a little blurb at the bottom of the game manual that says online capacity will be disabled permanently in December 2017. So since server connection is required to play basically any game mode, does that mean the game just becomes flat-out unplayable? I'm assuming this isn't news to anyone else here, but I had no idea.

Good news is it's only 2015 so that's more than 2 years away. But yes, eventually they shut down online. You can still play MYGM and MyLeauge and MyCareer offline tho

A server connection is not required to play all game modes. I am an offline gamer. I can play MyLeague offline. I can play MyGM offline. I can play MyCareer offline.

Simply disconnect from the internet prior to starting up NBA2k16.

Why are you wanting to play 2k16 when everyone else will be on 2k18 by then.
