I play off ball Defense...all the time

I am making a confession -- I play off ball D all the time.

Am I less skilled? Maybe...
Do I get more defensive stops? Yes...

Maybe I stink on the sticks when it comes to D, but I still feel like it's really hard to guard someone how zig zags back and forth all the time.

So I become the Center and play post D, rebound and help out.

Am I a cheeser for doing that?

No, you're not a cheeser. Just your preferred playing style based on your skill level. However I won't play you just for that reason alone lol

And the zig zag is not the bad that you can't guard someone for the better part of the game. Defenders get blown by, it happens. But that shouldn't mean you give up on trying to play your own defense all together.

I respect a baller who tries, not a lazy baller who gives up because something is difficult.

bro i been playin this game for a decade

and in all honesty playin off ball is no different than controlling DB's on madden.

its like a dude sayin if you dont control the d line your not sim.

some dudes control the safety on d all game without judgement

but on 2k it has become a taboo.

and its only because non sim players dont take satisfaction in true strategy...

the guys who fear your cpu are the actual noobs bro...

a real baller will attack you anywhere on the court...

my only suggestion would be to include offballing with all four defenders...

and definitely tinker with player lock cam, key off, zoom 1, height 5....

it is perfect for offball...

No I think it's just that when someone wants to play online they'd rather be guarded than a human than a computer. That's why you play online. As for OP I don't think it's cheese if you play off-ball it's just that I'd rather play on ball because it's a more human vs. human experience.

Ive also been lead to believe that players who prefer to play ppl who only play on ball defense are just going to abuse you off the dribble. playing lebron at the 4 spot so he can blow past to the opposing 4 man time and time again. if your looking to beat someone off the dribble... call a screen get a mismatch. thats sim

Nope, you're not a cheeser. Its all preference I suppose. I feel I have greater control by playing on ball and can bait opponents into bad shots and turnovers easier.

I prefer to play off-ball too. I have found over the last few years that all people do to human defenders is run back and forth and then act like they schooled you because you guessed wrong on the direction they were going.
I also found that some of those people get pissed at you for then using the double-team button to stop their nonsense. Or I start running a heavy dose of fastbreak.
To me nothing is more cheese than those that try to get a charge at the halfcourt line. GTFOH!!
