NBA2K16 PS3/360 differences? and Any feedback?

As far as ive seen xbox 360 graphics look better? or is it just the guys setup being better? because if it actually looks like that for both consoles, not bad at all.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovT85jGUCFg 360

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJzOQvuRR08 PS3

It kinda looks like its a difference in setup, maybe tv too?

Please don't hit me up with those "Get next gen" comments

I am not paying 460$ to play a game, and if i could why would i bother asking about last gen?.

I just want a game to entertain me for a while when i got nothing to do, stay in topic, if you have the game please be elaborate and try to find differences and let us know.

Last year i got 2k15, everyone said it was the same, but it wasn't, it had tons of differences in gameplay that people don't see because they judge superficially and don't bother to even try, or maybe they just didn't play 2k14.

Was it a change worth 60$?, well id say it needed just a >bit< more to >ATLEAST< be justifiable, but to say it was the complete same game as 2k14, is not fair.

That being said.

If these games would cost 40$, that would be totally fair to us since the updates are not worth 60$.

Its basically like paying for a patch of the game, for maybe some tweaks in graphics, some new animations, some tweaked sliders, AI behaviour, refined online, cleaned glithes, new roster, just some things that while not justifiable of being called a new game, atleast would let us know that they tried.. but well, i couldn't tell you unless i had the game.

But well yea, i would totally pay atleast 40 to atleast try the game, but 60 is like saying "this is a new game, its worth the price" when its totally not, 30, you got a deal.

Re: NBA2K16 PS3/360 differences? and Any feedback?

Here's my review of sorts; hopefully it'll help.

I have the ps3 version and all the player models basically got these new pseudo Next-Gen model upgrades; if I could compare it to anything I'd say they are like NBA 2k14 PS4 graphic quality; it was the 1st ps4 outing for 2k Sports so the graphics weren't fully perfect yet but still look amazing. Unlike what some people are saying pretty much everyone has a new model except for the following exceptions (I haven't looked at EVERY single guy keep in mind however):
-Pau Gasol has the same model
- David Lee has the same model
- Some poor bastards that didn't have a model last year still are a create-a-player this year (most notable is Jordan Clarkson; he's basically going to be a starter for the Lakers but yet 2 years in a row he's a CAP. Compared to all the new models too he sticks out like a sore thumb now it's ridiculous)
- Only like the top 7 rookies this year have a CF; keep in mind to I don't have the internet currently on my ps3 so I haven't been able to get the day 1 roster update if there was 1 so maybe they updated more guys. I'm hoping they did; the top 20 draft picks should at least have a cyberface in my opinion if not all 30 of the 1st rounders. Someone with the update would have to confirm or not whether they have a model now or not or if they are still CAP's.

The rookies that actually do have a cyberface look amazing; there's amazing detail on D'Angelo Russell's cf it even has his earrings. I'd say his model is one of the top 10 new next-gen esque models in the game.

Even some historic players got a new next-genish model: rookie MJ, Pippen, Magic Johnson, both Dr. J's, Moses Malone, I'm not sure who else.

Speaking of historic players: they added Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to the game, Rick Fox, Nick Van Exel are now on the '98 Lakers, and Eric Snow is now on the '01 76ers.

The back of the game claims/boasts "over 700 New Player Models" which I think is hugely exaggerated however maybe there will be more once the roster update hits. I didn't personally count them either. 360-450 of those are from the 30 current teams and I know for a fact not all of those guys have a new model but a crap load of the main guys do.

They have a lite version of the "Beard Tech" introduced in next gen I think in 2k14; the players that have beards all look considerably different and more like how their real life facial hair looks instead of all being the same style. Compare Birdman to Harden's beard ingame and inreal life and they are very different.

Lebron James' new model looks better than NBA Live 16 imo.

You are also able to finally edit the Euro-League Teams which is a nice feature if you play with those.

There is new on screen graphical displays during games and new commentary with Greg Anthony replacing Steve Kerr.

In shootaround practice you now have 2 teammates that pass you the ball instead of you needing to run around chasing balls around. I believe that was already in the next gen version since '14 or '15 but it's a nice little feature for sure.

I might be seeing things but I swear the last gen version has a lite version of the player emotions/reactions system that next gen has. I noticed when shooting with some players if you hit an excellent release they seem to smile or do stuff with their hands like they know it's going in and for bad releases they seem to grimace but maybe I'm just delusional.

The soundtrack last year wasn't bad at all; but I feel like this year has a lot better soundtrack - however the ps3 version only gets 25 out of the 50 songs the ps4 version has. I feel like they selected the best 25 out of 50 though- the CM Punk entrance theme is there, We Dem Boys, the songs in the commercials and trailers are all there, there's two tracks by Nas, Blitzkrieg Bop is in (I thought I was playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for a second when this comes on lmfao), there's 3 tracks from the 2k Classics Mixtape, and about half of International Songs are in. I can give the full track listing if you want it.

If you had 2k15 on the ps3 I'm sure you remember the infamous rainbow shoe glitch that never seemed to get fixed; that appears to be fixed I've yet to experience it and all the shoes actually load now - last year some of the shoes never loaded for me and were invisible in the shoe selector screen.

There's new shooting animations; Curry has a new shot.

Your AI teammates on offense I think are slightly smarter, instead of just standing around guys move a little bit more and some players that are slashers will try to cut to the basket on there on automatically sometimes.

I haven't played enough to notice if the post play and new big man advantages next gen has is fully in but I think a lite version of that might be in.

They have a new mode called 2k Battles which is a take on a combination of the new next gen PLAY NOW Online gimmick and my team and I think you can earn experience and level up or something. However; a. I don't have internet right now, b. I heard the servers are down so no one has been able to even try it yet even and c. I dunno how many people are even going to have the last-gen version this year so the servers are probably going to be deader than last year so who knows how many people are even going to bother with this mode. I know 2k Heroes wasn't that popular; I admittedly only played it like 3 times to get the trophies/achievements and that was it.

Yearly roster update is in too of course. All the teams that got new logos or uniforms this offseason are included and the Bulls' new coach Fred Hoiberg is in the game.

Now for the downsides and my complaints:

1. Gameplay and modes are basically 99% identical to last year's. My Career is the same version that's been in since 2k10 or so; so no Spike Lee storyline; personally I expected that but it would have been cool to include a condensed version of that with less cutscenes and/or decreased graphics. We didn't get The Park or any of that.

2. The creation system is the same since 2k10; we didn't get any new hairstyles or anything and the My Player Store has no new clothes it's all the same as last year from what I've read. Not a big deal if you don't use these functions however.

3. My biggest gripe is they did NOT include the new historical teams on the last gen versions for w/e reasons despite saying they'd be available for all versions; I'm kinda disappointed with that. I'm assuming there was hardware/disc space limitations but still huge letdown there.

4. They still never added a shot meter for Free Throws like the next gen version has which for me is kinda frustrating; I don't have time to memorize hundred's of timing/releases and because of that sometimes it's easy to miss freethrows because of not knowing the animations and that can be easily remedied and made easier if the FT shooting meter was in.

5. As I said previously alot of this year's rookies are create-a-players and don't have a cyberface. Some FA's and other players are as well. Walter Tavares looks like a generic default white guy CAP like they didn't even bother trying with him. IDK if that was or will be addressed in a roster update. Sim Bhullar also is white for some reason. Those are the 2 worst CAP models in the game on here. There's no reason Cauley-Stein and Frank Kaminsky and top draftees like that don't have a CF. I'm hoping it was just a case of them running out of time before they had to submit the game to be printed/shipped and they'll be good on the roster update; the roster appears to be from about 2 or 3 weeks ago. 2k seemed selective about who was getting a new model and who wasn't their choices were kinda random. Some of the rookies are listed as a 65 ovr for some reason so I take that possibly as a sign that they didn't finish them yet or get around to them.

6. The Next Gen preshow with Shaq is not in and there is no halftime show; there's just a halftime report which is like last year there's no commentary and actually this year I don't think they even showed any highlights it's just an on screen graphic with the score and shooting %'s for each team- so that's kinda a letdown as well but ultimately nothing too gamebreaking imo.

7. This is a minor gripe but I'm sure alot of people will be annoyed as well about this: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar does NOT have his goggles on the '87 Lakers for unknown reasons. His model still looks great however IDK how they don't have his signature glasses.

8. Also minor but in exchange for adding those 4 new historic players into the game: they took out Derek Fisher for unknown reasons and Anthony Mason (RIP) was taken out of the game as requested by his family.

9. There's a goofy glitch where some of the worst Free Agents in the game are listed as 0'0'' tall and are invisible; luckily you can easily edit their height and get them correct. It's comical seeing them grow out of thin air and then become 6 foot+. I'm guessing they figured no one would notice and I'd bet any money it's fixed in the first update.

----------

Overall it's up to you to decide if the good outweighs the bad. I got the game for free personally but would I say it's worth spending 60$ if you already have 15?: IMO actually yes especially in your case since you don't plan on getting a ps4 right away. I need to get a job first personally before I can upgrade to the ps4. 2k16 will be good enough to hold you over until you can get a next gen console; and honestly it may end up being the final last gen NBA release that 2k will put out. I guess ultimately it depends on the person and their situation. For most of you I'd say you are better off waiting to get a ps4 or XBONE and get the next gen edition.

I'd give the game a 8.7/10 so far for ps3 game but if you are comparing this on the scale of being up against the ps4 version it would only be like a 6.0/10. My grade for the game isn't final though because I'm waiting to download the day 1 patch and day 1 roster update to see if some of the player model issues were addressed and if they added in the FT shot meter.

I'll say this I think 2k put more effort into the last gen version this year than they did last year; definitely tried to improve the graphics and presentation as much as possible all things considered with the technical limitations of having 10 year old ps3 hardware and disc space. At this juncture honestly I'm surprised they were even able to upgrade the graphics much more than they already were for next-gen but somehow they pulled it off. I was pleasantly surprised admittedly.

Thanks for the review. You mention the AI teammates appear to move around more instead of standing around. Are they moving around in actually offensive sets? I'm asking about the options for "on the fly" offensive strategy adjustments. In previous games, these options would be "motion", "spread the floor", " freestyle", "3 around 2" and "4 around 1". This years PS4 version expanded to have over 20 options now. I wanted to know if the PS3 version expanded as well. I will likely purchase if the new freestyle offensive sets are available.

Review is a little outdated; I updated my review in a different post.

We still have quick play call and the on the fly offensive/defensive strategy adjustments but unfortunately they are the same as 2k15's.

Re: NBA2K16 PS3/360 differences? and Any feedback?

Just played this yesterday, my cousin got it early and it's meh imo. I play 2K11 & 2K14, I enjoyed the gameplay compared to 2K14. While my cousin who had 2K15 is heavily disappointed with it and says it's exactly like 2K15. He's not really used to it but i expected it, he thought it would have the MyCareer that's in the next gen version. I was just disappointed that it didn't have all the new Classic teams, I personally believe that it's a crime that they're still charging full price for the previous gen. Absolutely nothing but a roster update along with new menus. My cousin said he's gonna sue Spike Lee for false advertising

"It says "Be the Story" on the damn cover but there's no story "

Re: NBA2K16 PS3/360 differences? and Any feedback?

I personally think its dumb to think last gen is even close to being capable of withstanding such data that is the spike lee story and such, i mean is almost maxed out already, next year i believe there will be no last gen anymore, that says something, they can't improve anything else, i already expected small changes, in my opinion, to expect big changes is just dreaming, but like always say, it really depends on the persons level of 2k experience and basketball maturity to notice changes, otherwise you'll just judge it superficially without noticing the small changes that make all the difference, i am playing 2k15 today, and i enjoy it a lot, i barely ever played 2k14, 2k15 was to me WAY better, and since i am not getting next gen anytime soon, 2k16 will do for now, and am sure ill enjoy it since am open minded and can enjoy the little things, you have to be able to have a certain level of maturity in life too to understand how privileged we are compared to others to even have video games, i am thankful for what i have, and for what i can have in the meantime.

I see a lot of people posting on other boards renderings of custom courts, custom jerseys, talking about being able to play a season as a custom team with a custom roster.

Basically I'm a huge UK fan and I wanna create Rupp Arena, trade away all the players from a particular team, move that team to Louisville, and play a season that way with UK jerseys. I've seen pics posted where people do this and it looks amazing. They've all been telling me how to do it, but I can't find the menus.

They says it's under MyLeague.... well I can't find any MyLeague menu on PS3. Does this not exist? Is it only PS4? I've gotten pretty pissed off.

The MyLeague mode unfortunately is not on the ps3 version; neither are any other of the new modes that are on next gen consoles.
