Doesn't work like that. You can choose to go re-sign players from that screen and that would work fine. However, the game will prompt you when a player is ready to negotiate. After the trade deadline players will start to pop-up in the "things to do" feed and you negotiate from there. Thankfully you can actually negotiate instead of losing a player if they don't accept your first offer. The problem I've run into is not getting them to re-sign in season. I've only had a couple accept and those were top players that I offered big money to. Bench guys and older vets almost never accept, even when I offer 1-2 million over their ask. I moved the Raiders and we've been pretty terrible for a couple years so that could be why, but we're good this season and I still haven't had one accept. So long as you don't absurdly low ball them, though, they'll be available for negotiation in the offseason.
