Goalies: How are you handling movement?

Dear lord the movement is horrific, as a goalie myself I understand how they were going for realism but it just doesn't seem to translate into a video game... I've resorted to turning Precision Movement on as Default and just accepting that anything remotely cross-ice is probably going in as the slide is not really as effective as you would hope. Almost seems like you can start the slide but then the automatic goalie animation kicks in once the puck gets anywhere near you and what would have been a pad save turns into a 5-Hole goal or whatnot...

We don't. I have some really good sliders but unfortunately you need to set the game speed to 2 to make it work. Until they fix the framerate issue with lower game speed, this will not work well.

Re: Goalies: How are you handling movement?

As a first year Goalie but long-time NHL player, here's my advice. I use the default controls. I hold precision 95% of the time. Rarely get into the butterfly. Rarely hug the post. I can tell you that it just takes practice, practice, practice. Luckily I played some goalie in the Beta that helped. But in EASHL drop-ins so far my save % is only like 76% and my GAA is about 5. Which isn't bad if you consider some of the situations teammates leave you in, especially randoms. I played with a solid team and we won 7-2. But I've had teams that let them get 44 shots on goal and lost 48 face-offs so it's a toss up.

As far as offline, there is practice mode, I highly recommend. It's actually easier offline because the CPU is more predictable and there is no input lag.

Remember, less is more, but also, "no risk-it no biscuit". Make sure you cover the angles, everyone thinks they can beat you with angles. NEVER hit left stick without hitting precision unless you want to be at a 75-90 degree angle and give up a goal 80% of the time. I use LT and right stick when needed, and desperation saves when I am actually desperate. Just focus and play smart, and PRACTICE and you'll be fine.

It as worst offline as the CPU teammate are unable to stop a one timer pass in the slot. The game needs some major sliders adjustment to make it viable and a more authentic experience. The game is too fast to begin with compare to the speed a human can react. Anticipating does not work as you will compromise yourself and won't be to get back sliding from left to right. If you do manage to slider from one post to another, your goalie as a tendencies to pivot his body at 90 degree and the puck hit your pad only to bounce in the net.

Before my sliders, I had a 5.1 GAA and 0.767 save %
After my sliders, I had 2.33 GAA and close to 0.9 save %.

I will make a video on my sliders after EA fixes the framerate issue impacted by game speed set to 2 or lower.
