What are your fantasy draft strategies?

Wanted to do a fantasy draft this year and was curious as to what your drafting strategies were for those that do this.

For instance, what positions do you try to concentrate on in the first 5-6 rounds? Any special players that you feel you should always try to get?

I always try to get Patrick Peterson as my CB but if you don't take him by the 2nd round, he's gone. As my QB, Mariota needs to be taken by the 3rd or he's gone. Etc etc.

What positions and players do you guys try to get in the first 5-6 rounds?

Re: What are your fantasy draft strategies?

Round 1 and 2: Corners
Round 3-5: Linebackers
Round 6 and 7: Safeties
Round 9-12: Defensive Line
Round 13: QB
Round 14: RB
Round 15 and 16: WR
Round 17-21: Offensive Line
Round 22: TE

That's generally how I draft

Ah, so you don't try to get a really good WR at first or even try to get a good QB. You go straight for defense. Do you ever have issues passing or running the ball and scoring points?

There's a ton of depth at WR this year in the game. Players like DGB, Jordan Matthews, Agholor, Devin Smith, Funchess, Kevin White, Landry, etc.... Those guys are solid if placed in the right situation (ex: DGB in the slot is unstoppable).

I've found it to be a lot easier to get good offense late than getting good defense late. Corners early followed by a MLB and some pass rushers is key. You can get a solid QB like Hundley super late and he will be solid if you play to his strengths and develop his deep accuracy.

You can also get an RB like Duke Johnson that'll at least do well for one season until you can draft a replacement or trade some backups and picks to get someone like Melvin Gordon.

Re: What are your fantasy draft strategies?

I dont remember mine pick for pick, I ended up taking a bunch first, second, third year players.

R1. Luke Kuechly- Guy is a monster. Has five picks, 4 forced fumbles, and I think 2 TD's on the season, and I'm playing 6 minute quarters.

R2. Nick Fairly- I'll probably let him go when his contract is up, maybe try to move him since there are no compensation picks.

R3. Mike Evans- I dont love his separation, but he can go up and grab the jump balls. If he has single coverage I'm going up top to him.

R4-10. Brandin Cooks/Taylor Lewan/Joel Bitonio/Brandon Brooks/Prince Amukamara/Marcus Mariota

After that I started loading up on first and second year players:

Dorial Green-Beckham
Todd Gurley
Tre Waynes
Vic Beasley
Dante Fowler
Jonathan Cyprien

Once they all need contracts, it'll suck, but I'm enjoying the ride.

Re: What are your fantasy draft strategies?

That's why I hate fantasy drafts very little incentive to draft established veterans, all about taking rookies.

Re: What are your fantasy draft strategies?

I think it depends on your cfm. I recently joined one vs 16 users. My objective was simple get a QB. Pick an offense style (traditional, spread, shot gun, or however you want to play) draft players that will be effective for it and then grab DBs and pass rushers. Most people like to throw the ball so I run a dime def 90% of the time. But I would def suggest pick your strength and or how you want to play and draft to make that your strong suit.
