NHL 16 video : Be a pro goalie

In my series of video, I continue struggling in CHL as a be a pro goalie. I finish my first season last night and I was undrafted. So I have to spend another year in the Junior. It was a rough start. I ended up with an 5.1 GAA and 0.767 GAA. As you can see in the video. It's not the skill I am lacking, it the odds are stack against me. The AI is ruthless when it comes to One-timer and five hole shot.

All games were play on default sliders, hardcore simulation, pro difficulty.

My suggestion is to not play it on Pro... pro seems to dumb down your own AI players to the point where the opposition has an easy time. I play it on superstar when I play goalie and I find that the scoring chances are even on both sides and the goals scored against me were at least half decent. The teammate AI seems to be a little better at that level which helps as a goalie.

It won't make a difference. I've been down that rabbit hole before.

Thanks for the new vids. That first goal in the five hole bummed me out, you reacted so well to it.

I really hope I'll be able to get some slider magic going for the CPU one-timers, since those were the reason I gave up on goalie in NHL15. My D-men would rarely play the man and would just try to play the puck, which failed more often than not. Or both of them would chase behind the net after one guy and leave one or two guys open in front of the net even with collapse strategy. From what I watched, there's still issues but it's not as bad as last year, though that's not saying much.

Yep. Story of my life. Great positioning and I can't make a stop to save my life. Mind you the goalie is only 63/64 rating during these game. Even so, the game punishes you very hard even if you are in the right position. CHL is supposed to be easier than AHL or NHL. I can't only imagine what it would be like in the NHL with the default speed. There is no way I can't maintain a .090 save % like most NHL goalies do.

Re: NHL 16 video : Be a pro goalie

Could the low save percentage be due to the 4 minute period you are forced to play as goalie? If you had the same save percentage as real nhl goalies then you wouldn't give up realistic points per game.

Dunno, I may be missing something you guys know and I don't since I haven't started my career goalie yet, just saw the 4 minute periods thing and immediately did this search add the 4 minute periods thing had me worried.

Being forced into 20 min periods for regular player seems to be too much, and 4 minute periods for goalies seems to be much too little.
