Wouldn't it be great if Confidence had slider settings? (similar to speed threshold?)

I know a lot of OS'ers feel that Confidence has a great impact on why "Play Now" games feel so different from games played within CFM mode. And it's true that Confidence ratings can cause various skills to fluctuate wildly. So it stands to reason these wild skill fluctuations can have wild effects on games within CFM. Those skill fluctuations do not occur in "Play Now" games where there is no Confidence factoring in, so those "Play Now" games play consistently from one game to the next.

Having that said...

Wouldn't it be nice if if you could toggle Confidence on/off?

Or even better... give us a Confidence slider that universally effects the impact Confidence has for every team in CFM.

What I mean is, you could set a min/max for Confidence within the main settings page of your CFM settings.

So then you could set the min at 40 and the max at 60 if you wanted to reduce the effect Confidence has on your CFM. This way every player has their base Confidence rating of 50 and would never dip below 40 or go above 60.

Want a greater effect from Confidence? Set it at 30/70.

Or you could leave it at the default 0/100 so that each players Confidence could go all the way down to 0 or all the way up to 100.

Or you could put the slider at 50/50 which would effectively turn Confidence off... since then it would always stay at the default level of 50.

What do you guys think?

Do you think EA would ever do something like this?

Imagine if you turned Confidence to 50/50 or 40/60 how AWESOME CFM would be!

CFM would actually play like "Play Now" for the first time in YEARS...

I think confidence is good idea, but only if it works. So yes, we should be able to turn it off.

If the Confidence system is going to exist at all, it needs to have some amount of balance in the first place before we're given options to start tuning it as end users, otherwise user tuning is for naught.

Unfortunately, the impression that I have is that the Confidence reward portion of Dynamic Drive Goals was designed halfway as a reaction by the developers to the community's complaints about the struggles to restore low-confidence players back to reasonable confidence levels in Madden NFL 15, and the dev team ended up going too far in the other direction.

It's unfortunate because the reset confidence tool they added is all we needed.

Technically, I'll give you that point, because a full Confidence reset option would indeed placate the community here.

That said, as a game designer the idea that the acceptable fix for the problem is what amounts to basically a cheat code / developer option really bugs me.

In an ideal world, the things like "Reset Confidence" / "Add $5M to Owner" / "Clear Cap Penalties" / etc. don't need to exist because the systems in the game all work together in harmony to create an interesting and challenging experience for the user, and the user doesn't have to manage the game to get it to achieve balance.

I thought the reset confidence thing was only in on line CFM's for your team only. Can this be reset in off line CFM's as well? For both Human and CPU teams?

I agree with CM Hooe, that it's more imperative that the Confidence system be balanced first, and it would be best to have that before giving users the ability to adjust. And that in an ideal world these things shouldn't be necessary. But this isn't an ideal world. This is Madden, made by EA.

But I think it would be awesome to have a slider where you can not only turn Confidence on/off, but you could also decide to what degree you want it to affect your CFM. Kind of like the speed threshold slider, you can determine exactly what you want the league wide minimum speed to be with that slider. With a new Confidence slider you could do the same thing, and gamers who desire CFM games which function exactly like Play Now could easily do so by turning it off with this new slider.

They just need to take it out of the game completely.

I would agree I'd like to see it go, only because it's not fine tuned well enough, and can cause bizzare CFM games.

If it were well balanced, it would be kinda cool.

I want to like it..... I just don't like it right now

But what do you guys think? If there were such a slider in the CFM settings, would you use it?
