How are Salaries Calculated in Madden?

I would like to know how the salary data is calculated.

For example, in Madden, Tony Romo has a 7 year contract with 5 years remaining. The Total Salary is $108.00M. The Signing Bonus is $25.00M.

However, there is another number called "Cap Salary". For Romo, that number is $13.45M. Does anyone know what that number is or how it is calculated? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Re: How are Salaries Calculated in Madden?

I think its the salary plus the bonus over the years signed. So his yearly pay is his salary plus his bonus divided up among the years signed. Since he got a 25 Million bonus, you would divide that amongst the 7 years would comes to like 3.4 million a year added on to his base 8 Mil a year salary. And actually in this case you would take the 25 million and divide it by the 5 remaining years he has left, giving him a 8 million dollar salary and a 5 million bonus... Something along those lines.

Yeah it is salary plus the prorated bonus.

I still dislike how Madden simplifies contracts. I don't know what Romo's contract looks like in Madden, but I know it is not his real life contract. The totals match, but it differs year to year. Maybe one day we will get the option to restructure but I doubt it. I think it is a AI limitation.

Sorry I had a typo in my original post. His total salary was 108M, not 8M.

So, if you divide 108 by 7 years that is 15.43M. His 25M bonus divided by 7 is 3.57. If you add those up you get a number greater than 13.45 so that isn't it.

Any other ideas? Anyone play around with it in the contract section of the edit player screen?

Cap Salary usually rises in Madden, so its $13M this year, it will go up and up as the final 5 years play out

That presumes his yearly salary is the same each year.

I don't have Madden, but perhaps his salary increases each year? $15 would be the average.

Someone could go into CFM and check his numbers under the salaries section, it should have a year by year cap hit.

Edit: His yearly figure may look like this (salary/bonus)

year 1 $10 mil $3.57
year 2 12 3.57
year 3 13 3.57
year 4 15 3.57
year 5 17 3.57
year 6 18 3.57
year 7 20 3.57

Re: How are Salaries Calculated in Madden?

So here's a question then:

Is the Cap Salary field editable in Madden 16 or is that automatically calculated? Can someone check?

Edible how, is this not an option when you're editing a player? I'm not clear what you mean, but there is an option this year to wipe cap penalties (it actually works properly this year).

As other's said, the player's salary increases each season. There is no option to frontload/backload/etc contracts like you can in 2K basketball.

Contract / Length = Salary
Signing Bonus / Length = Bonus

You only have to pay the bonus money if you decide to move the player.
