FIFA 16 Video - Career Mode Innovations

Check out the latest FIFA 16 video, as Producer Santiago Jaramillo shows off the Career Mode innovations, which include pre-season tournaments, player training, and more.

Quote:
PRE-SEASON TOURNAMENTS

During the summer months, all the major clubs travel around the world in preparation for the upcoming season. In FIFA 16, we are introducing this key development period to Career Mode. Prior to a given season, your club will be invited to three out of a possible nine tournaments, played in Asia, Europe, Latin America, or North America.

Just as with real football clubs, these matches will be a great opportunity to work on your team tactics and line-ups before the start of the regular season - use all your subs to test squad players. The prize purse from these tournaments gets allocated to your transfer budget for the upcoming season.

PLAYER TRAINING

A footballer trains between matches to improve as a player. In FIFA 16, managers will be able to train their squad to increase player attributes and boost player development. Each week, select up to five squad players to train from a number of training drills, each focused on developing specific attributes.

The aim here is to allow for greater growth in youth squad players and to create more value to the club. Focus on your star players to keep a strong starting XI, develop youth players to increase transfer values and build your funds, or transform your club into the next Ajax or Barcelona, a breeding ground for the future stars of world football.

STORY OF THE SEASON

FIFA 16 will fully immerse you in the story of your club’s season. Our commentators will remark on key storylines, including notable player or team performances, big player debuts, and transfer rumours. In-game graphics and commentary will also pick up on interesting team stats for matches, and reference the wider context of league standings.

OTHER KEY CHANGES TO CAREER MODE
  • Sign free agents outside of the transfer window.
  • Scout Reports - After scouting a player reports are available to you now for an entire calendar year before expiring vs three months in FIFA 15.
  • Transfer Budget -Transfer budgets are now more realistically tailored to the club you're using in Career Mode. Also, a percentage of the remaining budget from the previous season will carry over to the next. and will vary based on where your club finished in regards to season goals.
  • Loans - Short loans have increased from three to six months and there is now an option to issue two-year loans.
  • Friendly Subs - You will be able to issue an unlimited number of substitutions during friendly matches.
  • More Realistic Transfers - While the transfer window is open, we have tuned the number of ‘high-profile’ moves by big players to better match the number of changes that typically happen in the real-world.
  • Improved Player Transfer Values - We’ve addressed values of players to better match the real-world transfer market.

This is great and the presentation looks good, but its stuff we already know.

Despite it looking good and new features, it could still go into more depth.

After what NBA 2k16 gonna do in career mode, all of this is like playing in the kindergarten. As a fan of many sport games, I don't see why I would waste time playing FIFA career rather then going really deep with 2K.

I also dont get why EA are struggling to implement it...or do they simply not care? Ultimate Team is fine if you're into online, but I for one am not. I LOVE Football Manager but i also love playing the games as well, why the Career Mode on Fifa isn't like FM in anyway really distresses me. The power of these next gen consoles isnt being used to capacity.

FIFA should be the biggest and best sports game and have the best graphics and best depth to game and offer the most stuff, but it simply doesn't. They are so lucky to have Konami as their only rival, but even Konami is starting to catch up and offers more things in several areas. I am really flabbergasted by how FIFA has stagnated since the move to CG. They seem to offer bare minimum compared to 2k.

Editing and creation in FIFA barely exists. Visuals don't measure up to 2k or MLB the show. Player models and graphics are behind Madden. Presentation is good in FIFA but shallow outside of the BPL and now possibly the Bundesliga. And CM is miles behind where it should be. (How can you not have proper youth teams in a career mode?)

I only hope the demo and EAA trial gameplay will show that its at least improved over 15.

I am still a bit confused about the transfers. Will there be more transfers this year, or will it be like previous years where CPU controlled teams rarely ever transfer or loan players. This has bugged me for several years.

I played the full beta and if that was any indication, the game should just be called FIFA 16 Ultimate Team. Career Mode is basically the same with a few changes, nothing major, but still same legacy issues with youth academy players. Be-A-Pro is literally the same, but with one new haircut and 4 or 5 new facial hair options. Graphics are very plain and the player models look the same from FIFA 13 or even 12. Generic players look the same, horrible. I've been playing FIFA since 08, but I think this year I'm skipping it. NBA 2K, Forza 6 (played the demo and I love it), Madden (after the patch Franchise), Halo, Fallout 4, will all be getting my attention. FIFA hasn't done enough in my mind to deserve a purchase in the last 2 years, last year was my mistake, this year I'll pass. I have learned that if they don't think enough about their customers to attempt to do much of anything in the Career/Be-A-Pro, then I'm not going to buy the game again until they do.

WEAK. That was actually nothing new that wasn't already announced over a month ago. They put that out like "oh hey we didn't forget about you guys". But yeah, you did. They said "we listened to your feedback", uh clearly you didn't. Because none of the any of the major changes to the mode were actually made. They changed some of the most minor things they could have. But that is what we get, and all we will ever get because FUT rules the world apparently. **** FUT.

Also, I really don't like the new color scheme. I prefer the one in 15.
