Madden 16 Fantasy Draft CFM

With every new release of Madden, there comes the different ideas on how to keep the game interesting. For the past three years myself and around eight friends have started a Franchise. Basically everyone jumps at the opportunity to get the best team and those who don't get who they want are pretty disappointed. This year I'm going to change it up and we will be having our first fantasy draft. I've messed around and done a few fantasy drafts on my own, but never anything serious.

I'm looking for some opinions on the best way to build a team through a fantasy draft. Some people might want to start with a talented young QB like Andrew Luck, but I think there are plenty of QB's on the game I can win with so I don't want to take one too soon. With this years new WR-CB interaction some of us might want a dominant WR or a lockdown CB. And we all know with this being a game that a lot of players will get picked higher by users just because of their physical attributes, but the CPU teams will pick smart most of the time and get the best players.

Anyways, who do you guys think are some of the best players to build a team around? And not only that, but what positions would you be targeting in the early stages and what positions could you wait on and still get in the later rounds?

ETA: What I have found out so far is elite QB's dominate the first 8 or so picks. Then usually Sherman and Von Miller are the first two defensive guys taken. Then it's about up for grabs.

I would wait to see how the new passing game works out this year. If it works as advertised we could finally see a difference between starters and backups. If it works the three most important positions would be QB, CB and WR.

Also, with penalties being a larger focus apparently....you may want to pickup a franchise tackle somewhat early on. It mostly still just depends on the offense/defense you want to run. I generally build power teams (I'll switch up occasionally to play differently) but I will build a solid offensive line and be very stout at DT and MLB. However, I agree a pair of good corners will be imperative this year, too.

Re: Madden 16 Fantasy Draft CFM

Pay attention to how the other team drafts and make your picks off of that, but don't restrict yourself to that. Keep your eyes peeled for elite talents and young players who develop well (Eric Reid, Kenny Vaccaro, Jeremy Hill, Tyrann Mathieu etc).

There are plenty of RBs to go around (Peterson, Charles, Murray, Lynch, Hill, Lacy, Bernard, Bell, etc), those usually don't go until late.

You may want to grab a corner early, there aren't too many elite corners, but there are young ones that develop well (Rhodes, Fuller, etc). There are plenty of safeties (ET3, Kam, Will Hill, Elam, Reid, Bethea, Vaccaro, McCourty, Clinton-Dix, etc), and don't forget you can play FS at SS, SS at FS, Tackle at Guard, DE at DT, etc, etc.

There are a good amount of QBs but don't wait too long, you might miss out on a guy you were waiting late on like Carr and get stuck with Fitzpatrick or Mallett.

There are tons of WRs to go around but most of the elite ones get taken quick, you can wait on them but you will most likely get stuck with a shorty or two later on. There are always guys with high potential like Cordarrelle or Kelvin late in the draft however, just keep track of who's left. Go deep in the WR list, you might miss someone who is a different overall than you thought.

There are a lot of OL, but only a few really elite ones, try to grab young beasts like Tyron Smith or Zack Martin early, if you don't feel like it just wait and look at other young guys who could develop well. Pay attention to the STR of the OL and DL you are drafting, you don't want to draft a guy with high ratings but 78STR.

Go through NFL rosters before the draft and find a big list of guys you could want, write down all the position groups then order who you want from highest to lowest at each position.

I fantasy draft every single franchise with my brother and we pretty much know who's gonna end up looking like what, maybe do a few solo fantasy drafts and simulate to see who ends up doing well.

Re: Madden 16 Fantasy Draft CFM

My plan was to make a Draft Board and order the players by position. I just don't want to reach to high on one position that I could have waited on and get stuck with someone who doesn't fit my scheme later on. It will take some time playing the game to see what direction I want to take my team, but I'm not sure yet if I want to be run or pass heavy or even balanced on offense. And then defense I'd like to have a solid front seven, but I feel like secondary is going to be more important this year.

Re: Madden 16 Fantasy Draft CFM

Do a few drafts by yourself as practice and really pay attention to what round the CPU take players. It helps you to find out if there is a player at a position you can wait on kind of like a sleeper. But be careful when you throw in multiple users to that draft as they may take these guys early to not miss out on.

Also find guys that you play good with i know in past years i suck with some RBs and am great with others same as QBs.

Re: Madden 16 Fantasy Draft CFM

My plan this year is going to be to build up the front 7 in my 32 player fantasy CFM I have Suh Watt and Clowney. And they caused so much havoc that I want to recreate that. I will go defense in round 1 unless Mariota is available. I'll try to get a WR like DGB around round 5 or so. As for the secondary draft Byron Jones, Trey Waynes, and Sam Shields possibly while also targeting Casey Hayward. I'll also target Christine Michael and Todd Gurley as the drafts wears on as for OL I usually don't concern my self with that till round 6 or 7 or something like that. OL is mad easy to find in FA and the draft. I just need an adequate OL.

Im thinkin about going defense first four picks and trying to get two pass rushing DE/OLB like Clowney and Fowler and then also try and get two real good man corners. Then get a playmaker on offense, probably WR, maybe QB or RB, depending on the value there.
