OS Realism Roster for MLB 15 The Show

UPDATE 9/1, 7:45pm

The final roster has been put in the vault as: OS Realism Roster FINAL. The PSN is ohtheseblues. Enjoy.

UPDATE 7/16, 9:50pm

A beta version of this roster is available in the vault as OS Realism beta. The PSN is KeepChooglin. Enjoy.

See below to refresh your memory on what's inside. The only thing that still needs to be worked on to make this beta version into a finished product is refining faces for teams from the Milwaukee Brewers to the Washington Nationals alphabetically by city name. If you don't mind the Brewers through the Nationals having their original OSFM faces, then this version is complete for your needs and ready to franchise with.

ETA: The future (near future) -- This will be replaced by a file name and release date in the vault in the future.

Background and Acknowledgments

Spoilered because this got kind of long, but this is probably the most important part.

Spoiler

What this Roster is About

Here are some specs (apologies in advance if these don't quite suit your needs, but there is no plan for any updates/changes after release):

Current, classic, or fictional? Current
SCEA ratings or re-rated? Re-rated using ZiPS projections as a primary standard
OD or Updated Transactions? Opening Day w/all injured players in A Ball
40-man or 25-man? 40-man
Contracts? Real amounts and years for all MLB contracts according to Cot's contracts as of Opening Day 2015
Include 2015 Draft Prospects? No
Suggested Sliders? Worst Sliders Ever These sliders include the best sim settings for manager hook, SP stamina, RP stamina, and injuries even if you don't use these for actual games. **There is no evidence that any sliders other than these affect simmed games.**

Here are some selling points:

*ratings based on ZiPS projections and tested to give the most true-to-life sim stats that you'll find in any roster

*updated ratings that are not in any other roster include:
-tweaks to minor league pitchers to prevent the league from becoming a pitcher's paradise in later seasons (sim stats are realistic to 10+ years into franchise mode)
-defense and speed ratings based on actual data, not "feel"
-new batting splits added based off the 2015 ZiPS projections
-expanded pitch edits: I've added 20% more pitchers and updated rookie starters since the original pitch edits came out and will update the spreadsheet when our roster comes out
-standardized pitcher batting/fielding/speed ratings...no more pitchers with noodle arms in the field or some teams with fast-running pitchers that can field and others with slugs
-updated clutch and durability ratings

*hundreds of error fixes from the OSFM rosters....corrected spelling, height, weight, positions, audio names (absolutely NO "near" audio matches..only exact sounds), country of birth, handedness, age...no stone unturned

*a more conservative potential system that minimizes the amount of "A" players in the game and reduces the amount of "B's"...decently heralded prospects all the way down in the C/B range...there are only 2 SP prospects with A potential...a high C potential in this roster is roughly equivalent to a low B in rosters that you're used to

*thoroughly edited equipment for both major and minor leagues with major leaguers wearing equipment from ~May...you'd be SHOCKED at how many silver necklaces, branded items, and other such items were missing from SCEA players

*rosters updated to include over 100 players not found in the original OSFM release...from players such as Mike Broadway to Jandel Gustave to Ryan Merritt to Mark Zagunis among dozens and dozens of others...additional players also added to free agents

*hundreds and hundreds of facial edits (don't worry, not done by me lol) and in some cases entire teams were re-done

*lineups and rotations accurate to opening day 2015

*a significant amount of batting stances and pitching motions re-done for minor league players and all MLB players with signature stances/motions have not been altered

Basically, we envisioned and wanted to engineer a roster that would be: (1) accurate to our standards of OCD-ness that others like us can appreciate; (2) amazing to use in a franchise mode for 3, 5, and even 10 years or more; and (3) something that can be carried over and used for others to base future roster projects on.

Sounds like a cool roster! A couple of quick questions...

Did you include any pitcher batting stances?

and

Will this roster be more filler-centered like the Revision Roster or prospect-centered like OSFM?

1) Yep, this will be edited from the thread

2) Prospects have been added that you won't find on any other roster: Rookie Davis and others to the Yanks, Jharel Cotton, Jacob Rhame, and more to the Dodgers, Jordan Patterson to the Rockies, Gabriel Quintana, Auston Bousfield, Duanel Jones, Fernando Perez to the Padres, Brian Holmes, Adrian Houser, and Jason Martin to the Astros, etc.... etc. You get the point. I'm very diligent when it comes to who to include. This is not to say that these guys are filling up AAA rosters either. Players will be assigned to the appropriate levels.

j/c are the two A-rated SP prospects Syndegaard and Rodon? Looking forward to this set. I am 5 years deep in a fran w/ the Mets and the rotation, although awesome, is a bit OP. Balance is key with this game, makes it so much more enjoyable.

Glad to hear it.

Both Syndergaard and Rodon just missed the cutoff for an A. I have them both in the high 80s POT (Syndergaard is an 89 I believe) and with some decent progression they can easily become A's. The beauty of both those guys is that their repertoires are filthy enough that they'll do ok whether as high B's or as A's.

The guys I settled on as the only A POT pitching prospects are Lucas Giolito and Julio Urias. Neither is higher than a 91.

The goal is to have the best possible mix of both and it's being done on a case-by-case basis. For example, we aren't excluding younger prospects like Ozhaino Albies and Alex Reyes because of their age. There are also some 29-year-old minor league RPs in there.

One way you can think about it is...if people want nothing but young prospects and absolutely no minor league depth, then there are more than enough rosters out there to import from. What our roster hopes to bring in addition to balance is some players that aren't in any other rosters yet, which will make the pool of players people can choose from a little bit larger.

By near future do you mean sometime in July? I understand asking these questions are a bit annoying just excited for these rosters and to start my new franchise
