Grizzlies grind out 83-78 win over Timberwolves
By simulationsports.net

The Good: Marc Gasol. Marc Gasol feasted on the Timberwolves frontline on his way to a big game on opening night. Gasol finished with a game high 31 points to go along with 12 rebounds in 35 minutes. The former defensive player of the year went 11-of-20 from the field and 8-of-14 from the charity stripe in the low scoring affair.

The Bad: Mikola Pekovic. Nikola Pekovic laid a dud on both ends of the floor against the Grizzlies. After allowing Marc Gasol to go beastmode on him, Pekovic only scored 9 points on the offensive end in 23 minutes. He was 2-of-5 from the field and ended the game in the minus for the Timberwolves.

X-Factor: Zach Randolph. Z-Bo didn't have to do much against the Timberwolves but he did pitch in with 13 points and 6 rebounds in just 28 minutes of action. Randolph went 6-of-14 from the field as he took a back seat to the Marc Gasol show in the win.

Rookie Watch: Andrew Wiggins. Andrew Wiggins didn't disappoint in his first NBA although it was a losing effort. Wiggins scored 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting in 30 minutes. The number one overall pick also had 4 rebounds and 2 steals in his first game.

Up Next: Detroit Pistons (1-0) @ (0-1) Minnesota Timberwolves

The Good: Andrew Wiggins. Andrew Wiggins led the way for the Timberwolves as they defeated the Detroit Pisotns tonight. Wiggins led all scorers putting up 17 points with 5 rebounds, 3 assist, a steal, and a blocked shot as he did a little bit of everything against Detroit. Wiggins also shot the ball well going 8-of-15 from the field in the Timberwolves first victory of the season.

The Bad: Brandon Jennings. In the battle of the 2009 draft class point guards, Brandon Jennings decided not to show up at all. In 26 minutes, Jennings went 1-of-10 from the floor including 0-of-6 from three as he finished with 4 points and 7 assist in the loss.

X-Factor: Ricky Rubio. While Jennings laid an egg, Ricky Rubio did what he does best by setting up his teammates and playing great defense. Rubio dished out a game high 11 assist to go with 2 steals in 26 minutes. Rubio also had 5 points an was a +16 for the Timberwolves.

Rookie Watch: Zach LaVine. Zach LaVine was huge for Minnesota off the bench and he provided a spark with his highlight reel dunks. LaVine played 15 minutes off the pine and scored 11 points with 3 rebounds and 3 assist on 5-of-7 shooting in the 88-81 win.

Up Next: Chicago Bulls (2-0) @ (1-1) Minnesota Timberwolves

By simulationsports.net
Posted Nov. 1, 2014

The Good: Derrick Rose. Derrick Rose was in 2011 MVP mode has his carried the Bulls to a overtime win over the Timberwolves. D-Rose finished the night with a career high 46 points on 16-of-26 shooting from the field, including going 12-of-16 from the free throw line. Rose flirted with a triple-double as he added 9 rebounds, 11 assist, and 3 steals to his big scoring night.

The Bad: Kevin Martin. Kevin Martin struggled to find his shot with Jimmy Butler up in his grill all game long. Martin scored 12 points but he only shot 4-of-13 from the field in the process. His defense wasn't pretty either as Jimmy Butler scored with ease with Martin checking him.

X-Factor: Jimmy Butler. Jimmy Butler notched a double-double with a 21 point and 11 rebound performance against the Timberwolves. Butler added 3 steals while going 7-of-17 from the floor in the overtime win.

Rookie Watch: Andrew Wiggins. Andrew Wiggins led the T-Wolves ins coring but it just wasn't to get the win. In 42 minutes, Wiggins scored a team high 21 points with 7 rebounds, 3 assist, and a blocked shot. He was 9-of-18 from the field and 0-of-5 from behind the arc.

Up Next: Minnesota Timberwolves (1-2) @ (1-1) Brooklyn Nets
