Windows 10

I just got a notification to reserve a free Windows 10 update in my taskbar. Has anyone been following news about this OS? Will it be worth the update? I hung on to XP forever and I'm only using Windows 7 now. Not sure if this will be worth checking out or not.

Re: Windows 10

Win10 is a free upgrade for 7 & 8 users. It'll be out officially at the end of July.

My boss has been using it for the last two weeks (we're an IT consulting firm) and it's certainly much better than Windows 8. I'll probably be upgrading my office desktop in the next week or two so I'll post some feedback here after spending some time with it.

For home use, there's probably no reason to leave Windows 7 in the near future.

Re: Windows 10

I did too and reserved my upgrade. My thoughts are you should because I do feel "10" will open the door to lots of more possibilities. Especially, if you use MS products. However, the need is not imminent.

I do know that on Jan 13, 2015 MS mainstream support for Windows 7 Service Pack (SP) ended. Extended support doesn't end until January 14, 2020 for Windows 7 SP1.

In case you were wondering, here's Win10 system requirements

Those requirements are less than what it takes to move from XP to Windows 7. I wonder if Windows 10 takes up even less resources than 8.1?

I haven't bothered trying to look for the upgrade because I want to wait to see if there are any bugs that need to be worked out.

When 8 came out there were simple things like drivers that I couldn't get to work and it was a headache. Took a year for them to square all of that stuff away completely, so I'll reserve but wait for some reviews before jumping in head first. I am interested in what will be done with DX12

Re: Windows 10

When I get it I'll install it immediately, I'm coming from 8.1 and will be glad to be done with it.
