Where do all the good TE come from?

I mean really? I'm on season 5 of a CFM and I've been looking for a sensational rookie to groom the whole time. Every one from the draft is a series of "B"s in everything except strength which is usually a D. Run blocking, terrible. I'm not expecting As in speed and catch and all that...but I see nothing exceptional even after scouting all of them.

I have not bothered to waste a pick on one. I'd rather just get one in UDFA and invest in him then.

I saw a thread where someone converted a wr to te, but no details were given. Is this what everyone does? Cause even this time, my scouting of TE s is not looking promising

Edit: while I'm complaining, pretty much the same situation happens for Safeties...both free and strong. I've been really disappointed for awhile now, trying to fill the weakest part of my team. It's not easy and led me to overpay for a dud free agent FS that I'm now stuck with

Thumbs up Re: Where do all the good TE come from?

For TE, take a 6'5" or 6'6" "Red Zone Threat" WR and move him to HB, then FB, then TE...

So... WR>HB>FB>TE

Don't move him straight from WR to TE, unless you want to lose 10+ Speed and Acceleration. You lose more awareness, but it's cheap to rebuild.

For Safties, look to draft a "Prototype"-type Saftey, with an "A" grade in both Speed and Hit Power. You can find these guys as low as 5th-7th round, so you don't overpay. A lot of the time they have a low OVR and Awareness, but they develop quickly (1-2 seasons and they should be high 80's OVR to upper 90's).

When scouting TE's look for 3 things, Spec Catch, Catching and Catch in traffic with B speed. There seems to be one in every round, from what I've seen mostly round 2 and later. I actually have 3 superstar TEs on my team right now just by doing this. If you want a baller WR, scout just release until you find an A, then scout the rest (be sure catch is B as well). They will inevitably be at least a 75 overall. Then you can use EarthboundMysfit's trick to make him TE.

Are you getting As in the non speed categories? I just get Bs in everything....and I'd hate to get a series of 75-80s in catch etc for a round 2 pick.

I think I'll try the Wr conversion trick and see how it goes

For the TE you won't get many if any A's. From what I've seen, if you find a guy with all B's in the 3 catch sections, as well as B's for jumping and speed, take him, he will most likely be a superstar.

Re: Where do all the good TE come from?

For safties, I'm the Cowboys in a CFM (blasphemous, I know) and I found two beast safties in the same draft. Got a guy in the 2nd who came in at 78 ovr 92 spd 91 hit 83 zcv. After 3 years he's 90 zcv 99 prc 99 awr 99 pur and 99 ovr. The other guy in the 3rd was 6-3 91 spd 80 zcv 93 hit. Now he's 90 zcv 99 prc 99 awr 99 hit 90 tkl 99pur and he's 99 ovr as well came in as a 75. Now my biggest concern is how in the world I'm going to resign them both. So finding safties is possible.
