High inside fastball

Any tips on hitting the high inside fastball? Seems all I can ever do is pop up or foul off repeatedly.

I also have major problems catching up to high fastballs. I'm starting to think that the only way I'll be able to get a good hit on them is to totally anticipate them coming. If it's not a fastball I would be totally screwed, which is why I'm hesitant to assume it's a fastball.

I also have problems with this type of pitching and think the success of it in MLB The show is unrealistic. I admit, I will also pitch to that corner but I don't constantly try to get batters out that way.

One recommendation is to go with high plate vision guys, if possible. Also, try to anticipate when the ball will reach that corner but be ready to adjust when the ball goes elsewhere. I know that's easier said than done.

I faced Chapman last game, I think I might have fouled one off.... that's it. Anticipated it, he threw it every time, for a strike, and could only manage one foul tip lol.

The "win at all costs" gamer dorks use a different view that makes it easier. A lot of them use a view where you can't see the hitter. If you're a baseball fan and play for fun like normal people, then your best bet is to foul them off or lay off. They will waste a lot of pitches and many will get called balls.

That or if a guy is living up there, leave your PCI there and wait for it. After a couple warning track shots or even a HR, they will stop. Those are the most satisfying HRs.

The high inside fastball is a sequence of deception. It requires the quickest swing. If a pitcher in real life or The Show where to throw that consistently it would get pounded. The ball has little break and your reflexes would quickly adjust as your swing is naturally level. If a curveball is hung up there it would have a higher contact percentage because you can adjust to the break. With a low fastball on the corners you get the extra split section of reaction time. I feel the physics of The Show well represent simulation as opposed to arcadia of other sports games.

1. Make sure you have a lineup full of as many lefties/switch hitters as possible to face the flame-throwing righties who throw the high inside heat. The amount of .240 hitting Tulowitzkis, Cabreras, and Trouts I see in DD are hilariously high, because everybody uses them and very few can hit the high heat with them. The ones that CAN hit the high heat with them hit well over .300. The difference between being able to hit that pitch and not being able to is an average of .180-.240 to .320+

1b. Make sure you have right handed bats on the bench to replace 5 of the lefty hitters when you face a lefty.

2. Use zone hitting. If you suck at it, it's the only way to be among the best at this game. Use it and practice.

After that, it's just skill. I sit my zone up and in and adjust accordingly when the pitch comes. Because the high heat requires the quickest swing, I need to start my zone up there. I have time to adjust to lower pitches, but you don't have time to adjust to the high heat.

The last dude I played against had Ventura on the mound and kept killing me up and in with 100 MPH fastballs. I just waited patiently for him to miss his spots and was able to hit two homers in the game. I won 2-1 but it was a real nail biter.
