No rest for the weary on my team... maybe there should be.

One of the things I love the most about The Show, or any sports game for that matter, is managing lineups. In the NHL series for some reason EA has decided year after year not to include goalie fatigue, which drives me nuts. MLB The Show it seems take to the opposite end of this spectrum. At least in my opinion.

It's potentially no issue at all and essentially my question for those who know, is how much does fatigue factor into a players ability in a game or his susceptibility of getting injured? It seems that once you're a week or two into the season at least one of your every-day starters is "needing a rest."

I totally get that no one plays 162 games per year anymore, but Starlin Castro for example has played every game in real life but he's practically out of "energy" for me two and a half weeks into my season in The Show. Given, the Cubs in real life have had a few rain outs but I still feel it's completely reasonable that he still would have played every inning of every game.

What happens when a player's energy bar drops all the way down and you still play him?

While very few players play all 162 games because of injury or they get a day off hear and there. Even if some on plays 162 games I am sure there are some games where they don't play all 9 innings because they are either up or down by a lot with like 3 innings left or something. So I don't know but if you sub guys out once in a while in like 6-7 inning that may help. While when a player is under 65% fatigue I think there ratings drop by like 10 % or something and I know it increases the changes of getting injured.

What is his durability rating? Maybe edit that up and see if it helps? Although I do prefer to have to juggle my lineups than not I wish they had a player stamina slider.

I forget what percentage (65% I think) the players attributes take a hit as does his durability.

Yeah I just said that lol. I don't remember how much of a hit they take though.

I noticed that if I rest a player, but then use him as a Pinch Hitter, he doesn't get his stamina back. Justin Maxwell was at about 50% and I benched him, but put him in as a PH in the 9th. The next game his stamina was lower...

Re: No rest for the weary on my team... maybe there should be.

I can't stand how durability is handled by the game.

I think the problem is that they applied the same overly simple logic as they do with other sports games which is to use statistics based on how many games/innings players complete compared to the maximum. In Madden it works because you only sit out if you're injured/suspended.

In baseball, it is much more likely to be given the day off because the manager wants a bench player to stay sharp, or because you you've got poor numbers against that days starter. A true day off for a highly rated completely healthy player is a rare thing, a day of rest for a well performing player in the first months of the season? Literally never.

On that note, it's got to be so hard to develop a baseball game. The game is all about details, and layers of complexity that separate the casual fan seeing the result, and the baseball professional understand why it happened.

It's a paradox, if brilliant baseball minds developed the game, the presentation would look like this:

Yeah, frankly I hate this aspect of The Show.

Using OAK, Semien is gets seriously fatigued after three games, but in real life he played like the first 45 games in a row.

I get that every day players will naturally wear down over the course of the season, but if The Show's energy bar is supposed to represent real life, we're be led to believe that playing a week straight is enough to put a player into cardiac arrest or full system meltdown.
