Basketball Back In Seattle - Supersonics My League

Basketball has returned to Seattle. The Utah Jazz have folded from the NBA leaving an open spot in the Western Conference Northwest division. This is when Seattle stepped in and claimed the free spot bringing Supersonic basketball back to the NBA.

With the Utah Jazz and all of their players leaving the league, Seattle was left to "draft" players from the Free Agency Pool. While the roster may not be anything to die for, Seattle is happy to have a basketball team and is determined to make some noise in the future. With a strong draft class coming up and money to do damage in next years free agency, their future is looking bright.

With that being said here is a look at the new Seattle Supersonics:
Starters-
PG - Nate Robinson
SG - Ray Allen
SF - Xavier Henry
PF - Rashard Lewis
C - Andrew Bynum
6th man - Jarell Eddie
7th - Isaiah Austin
8th - Patric Young
9th - Seth Curry
10th - Hasheem Thabeet

We may not be the strongest, fastest, or even close to best team in the league. Some may call them the team of leftovers but we are going to come together and work hard this year. The Western Conference is the best and hardest conference to make the playoffs out of, it may not be this year we see a playoff spot but expect to see Supersonic basketball make some noise for years to come. - Head Coach Wyatt Jones

Around The League

Eastern Conference-
All eyes in the Eastern Conference are on the Cleveland Cavaliers. They are the best team overall coming in to this season.

- The Miami Heat are looking to bounce back after the loss of Lebron James. With an aging Dwayne Wade and recently resigned to a max contract Chris Bosh, the Heat are hoping to sneak in to the playoffs. With the most recent addition of Goran Dragic they have a much less intimidating Big 3.
- Derrick Rose returns to lead the Chicago Bulls and along with the newly added Pau Gasol. A team that will make some noise in the Eastern Conference and could be the only team to give the Cavs a push come playoffs.
- Paul George coming off an eventful summer looks to lead the Indiana Pacers, but will have struggles playing in the same division as the Bulls and Cavs.
- Jason Kidd and Derek Fisher have new head coaching jobs as the season begins. Jason Kidd takes over the Milwaukee Bucks and Derek Fisher will lead the New York Knicks. The real question is, How much authority will these two have?

Western Conference:
The Western Conference is still the best overall conference in the NBA and will be the toughest for all of these teams in it.
- A healthy Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook lead the Oklahoma City Thunder this season with hopes of the 1st seed come seasons end. If healthy year round they should have no problem locking it up.
- After a solid year, Damian Lillard and LaMarcus Aldridge look to only go forward off of last years performance.
- Kobe Bryant has yet to give it up and leads the Los Angeles Lakers, with the help of Julius Randle inside and Nick "Swaggy P" Young they should be an interesting team to watch. Don't expect a playoff berth.
- The defending champion San Antonio Spurs look to do what they did last year. Play team ball, grind it out until the playoffs and make another run at the title. As every player on this team gets older, they seem to get that much better.
- The newest addition to the NBA, the Seattle Supersonics are nothing to be afraid of. They aren't intimidating in any area but if playing team ball could give some good games. The city of Seattle is just happy to have basketball back, in a few years they could be a team to talk more about.

MVP Watch-
1.) Lebron James every year is in the talks for the MVP race and it only seems fitting as he is the leagues best player.
2.) If healthy year round, Kevin Durant could push for the MVP Title again.
3.) Steph Curry is one of the most exciting players in the game and can light up the scoreboard and dish the ball very well. Could make a push this year.
4.) Anthony Davis looks to finally start getting some credit. The lengthy big man is one of the most intimidating forces on both offense and defense. Hard not to see him in the talks.
5.) James Harden leads this years Houston Rockets, coming off a very upsetting first round loss to the Blazers. Harden could be lethal this year knowing how last year finished.

Harden Halts Opening Day

In a night that was suppose to be about the Supersonics, James Harden made it about himself.
The game itself going back and forth throughout the first half, saw a half time score of 58-51 with the advantage to Houston. James Harden alone had 29 at the end of the first half.

Houston would only grow the lead from there, outscoring the Sonics by 8 in the third quarter and tying in the fourth. The final score of the game was 111-96 Rockets.

James Harden finished off the night shooting 16-25 from the Field, 5-7 from the Three Point Line, and 8-9 from the Free Throw Line.
Dwight Howard had quite a game with 20 points and 13 rebounds on 9 of 13 shooting.

On the plus side for the Seattle Supersonics, Ray Allen scored 18 points with 5 three pointers on the game.
- Rashard Lewis gave the feel of if he was 26 years old all over again. Rashard had 23 points on 9-13 from the field and 3-4 from the three point line. Rashard added 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals along the way.
- Xavier Henry and Nate Robinson both added 16 points to the game as well.

Quote:
While the final may have not gone our way, we played a great first half and fourth quarter. We let the third slip away from us. You have to play the whole game here if we want to earn victories. Defensively we collapsed tonight letting James Harden go off for 45 points. But I have to say that I am quite pleased with the game Rashard gave us. Almost getting the triple-double on opening night must have had the fans feeling good. With 81 games left, I am not worried with how tonight went. - Coach Wyatt Jones
