I do not think he has been playing better than Smart nor should he be rated higher, or as high as him...If you only read box scores and ppg averages then you may think that, but Smart has played a pivotal run in Boston's recent playoff surge where are playing meaningful games and where they have been one of the better teams since the All-Star break...

Now Lavine is very raw, insanely athletic, low passing ability, inconsistent shooter...and a pretty decent handle...so I think he has shown that he has good potential for the future. I rerated him based on how I think he has been playing, and how he will pan out to play and he came out as a 71 OVR pg and a 73 OVR 2 guard.

Smart's defense is vastly more advanced than LaVine's offense, and he's sacrificed his on-ball touches for the good of the team. LaVine is unplayable on a team that aspires to win more than 20 games.

OVR is irrelevant really, because that depends on formula to calculate OVR. Its whether the 2k version plays like a reasonable representation of the player. I think they got LaVine about right. If you play the right way with him, you can get some explosive offence- big points and huge dunks. He is below average on D.


Marcus Smart also feels about right. Love his athletic defence. His offence is raw, but can be effective if you refrain from being overly aggressive.
