Directional or Zone?

What is your guys' preferred hitting mode? I actually never tried zone before (I loved pure analog last year and never changed) but I'm deciding whether to go with zone/analog or directional with analog.

I played three of four "demo" games and two other exhibitions, and from my experience directional felt a bit overpowered. From a "realism" perspective it felt a bit more natural to have to properly position your zone to push/pull or get fly balls/grounders, but what do you all think?

For what it's worth, I'm not a fan of screen clutter, so I enjoy hitting without the strike zone or the PCI showing or anything like that.

So what's your preference: directional or zone?

I'm going back to directional and using buttons bc I don't like the new analog controls. We'll see how long it lasts.

What hitting difficulty are you playing on?
Also, I think the game overall feels a little "over powered" than in the past...and I mean that in a good way.

I felt in the past it was too hard to hit doubles, and balls in the gap.
This year it seems to be alot more realistic. So in a way the game is not easier, but just more realistic.

I have had 1-0 games, 4-5 games, 12-4 games...nice mix in the first few games. In past MLBs I could never score 12 runs...ever. Rarely hit doubles...

This year it feels just about right.

I use All-Star, just what I settled on last year and seems about right.

You're right in about more doubles and well-hit balls, I think that's a good point. That's probably what I was feeling. Though to me directional does still bit gamey, no? Whereas zone does seem like a more fitting test of trying to get a ball to left or right. Intuitively to me, it seems odd to just be able to choose which direction the ball will go, and for the most part have it go there.

That said, I'm still alternating between the two almost every inning!

Re: Directional or Zone?

Directional.

HOF hitting is good but I'm finding it frustrating to score. I can hit ok with it. All-Star is too easy and am finding me going up 5-10 runs a game.

Going to try Dynamic Difficulty tonight and see how it goes.

But to continue about directional vs zone, I didn't like zone. Directional is great but you still need to time your swings to still pull balls, etc.

Same here. Directional does seem intuitive, but I'm going with what comes natural to me.
