Re: MLB 15: The Show Impressions Thread (Impressions Only!)

Diving into Spring Training. Love the new interface for Franchise. So much more user friendly. Getting to see information without jumping into menu after menu. One annoyance is that even though I turned off GM Contracts, it still displays on main page and is accessible. Not a big deal, but I was expecting it to be grayed out.

Still no way that I can find to view the managerial staff of other teams. Bummer

It also appears that in simulated games the cpu is not subbing out positional players. They change pitchers but not positional players. Haven't played a ST game to check in game, but this is a bit of a shocker.

You don't have the day one patch. The subbing issue is fixed in the patch.

Thanks Russell!

I wasn't even thinking about the idea that I don't have the day one patch.

Appreciate you clearing up any confusion that I may have caused.

Re: MLB 15: The Show Impressions Thread (Impressions Only!)

Just came home from spring training and only played a short time.

Quick thoughts

Game is very tight and clean look.
No problem bringing over franchise from 14.(excellent job by SCEA)
I missed the first fly ball - that suction from last yr is gone.
Faces and uniforms look great!
Commentary improved - very fluid with more of Matt and less of sidekicks.
Sliders and settings came over from 14. I played with the pitch speed and
it seems to have a increased range on both ends. (will test more)

I wrote down twice in my notes - tight gameplay and clean look and feel.

I am going to take a nap - then will add to my initial thoughts.

Re: MLB 15: The Show Impressions Thread (Impressions Only!)

Only had a chance to play 1 game last night. Yankees vs Red Sox at Yankee Stadium at 4pm (June) and the game looked fantastic. The daylight transitions from 4pm to 7pm were amazing. The shadows moved across the field throughout each inning. Very nice looking.

Here is a screenshot showing some shadows:

I play on All Start Default for hitting and pitching and the game felt great to me. I did notice that my timing was a little off in terms of hitting. I tended to be ahead of a lot of pitches. I think with time, ill get used to the timing.

I use the pitching meter and notice that there is a noticeable movement to your pitches (ie. 2 seam fastballs, sliders, cutters have some good late movements) Also, even if you hit your spot with the pitching meter, there is some variations to where your pitch will go. It won't always go exactly where you put the ball marker (hope that makes sense). I also walked 3 batters as well which seemed rare last year for me with meter pitching.

I will try to get some more time in with the game tonight hopefully and will try to stream as well.

So far, really liking the improvements made to the game.

One more screenshot:

Re: MLB 15: The Show Impressions Thread (Impressions Only!)

I have only played a handful of games and will post a more indepth impression later, but one thing I have noticed is speed ratings are waaaaay off. Kevin Kiermaier is not slower than David DeJesus or anyone else on the Rays current roster. I know this can be fixed but I found that to be a bit of a suprise. Anyhow I will update this when my daughter goes home.
