If we don't get another patch...Would a 2K16 boycott be justified?

via Steve_OS "FYI: Another NBA 2K15 patch has not been confirmed, so a more permanent fix might not even happen. We will keep our eyes open for any news on it."

I said it from day one man...these Sports gaming companies just getting straight BOLD. You know damn well they could have fixed this regression issue, this shoe issue, and the shot blocking by now. The regression issue which has been talked about since a week or so after launch hasn't even been ACKNOWLEDGED, Yet as soon as a VC exploit is found it's fixed within the week...I'm starting to think that once the new year turns they just start working on the next years game and to me that is unacceptable.

So my question to you is, if we do not see any of these three issues addressed. Would a boycott of NBA 2K16 be in order?

EDIT:I wanted to provide a response to this thread and just state my opinion here...I'm not trying to be overly negative, but I chase the truth, and I always have. I ALREADY stated that NBA 2K15 is the GREATEST sports simulation of all time, but I just wanted to leave a small reminder of what happened last time we put our unconditional faith in a sports gaming company...#NeverForget

Go ahead and boycott, it won't matter. I know I'll buy this game every year because basketball is my life and I love it. Every game has its flaws but this is definitely the best 2K in a long time IMO.

One of the choices is: "Yes, blatant disrespect to the fanbase?"

I'm literally laughing out loud. Dude, this is a video game. It's made by 2KSports, a subsidiary of Take Two, a publicly traded multinational company with over $2 billion in annual revenue.

The guys who make this game are accountable to managers, shareholders, etc., and they work on a fairly constrained product development cycle. Their job is to make a product that sells copies and generates profit--if they don't, then NONE of us will have a game to play. If there's not a third patch, it may be because they're already knee-deep in making 2k16.

And despite this, they turn out a game that has appeal not only to the arcade/casual gamer, but has given the most in-depth franchise mode I've ever seen in a console game, one that finally incorporates features of some of the great simulation sports games, such as OOTP: custom leagues, customization of talent level, training effects, trade difficulty, etc. The devs actually POST on here, and they even hire people like Czar to help make the product better. That's AMAZING. Compare that to the crap EA Sports does, and the difference is even more dramatic.

If you decide you don't want to spend $60 on this product, that's your prerogative as a consumer. That doesn't make it a boycott, though. But taking this as a personal disrespect? Give me a break--the sooner you stop expecting a multi-billion dollar company to care about you, the happier you'll be. If you want to be vocal to create a substantial enough consumer voice to shape the development of the game--then by all means, go for it.

It's called being realistic.

Ever think maybe they took time tryna fix the problems and couldn't figure out what was wrong? Or that it would take too long to actually fix and cut into 2K16?
Be happy we get patches at all..same games ignore the customers completely....some games don't get patched at all.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you're expecting a for-profit company to give a darn whether a few posters on a message board feel disrespected, you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

2K15 is the most fun I've ever had playing a basketball video game. So no, I won't be boycotting next year's version for anything 2K15 related.

If you feel your money is better spent elsewhere, however, then you have every right to pass on 2K16.
