just got the game. how do you play a season?

You mean like what used to be called Season Mode? I think it's now called MyLeague, or at least that's the only mode I found to be similar.

I don't know why, but 2K decided at some point to hide all the good old modes behind fancy and unnecessary names.

I think you can play a season by going into MyLeague. I'm not totally sure because I only play MyGM and MyCareer.
