Be a Pro in manager mode

The last FIFA I played was either 12 or 13, I'm not positive which one. But I remember being able to create a pro, and then use him while doing a career as the manager. Is that still possible, or has that been taken out? You could still improve the player or unlock items by completing the challenges, but you had complete control over your squad's formation, tactics, etc.

If it's not possible, how does improving players work in the manager mode? Do I have any control over that? Thanks!

I think they took that feature out, unless there's some work around that I don't know of. You could use him online as well in vs matches. I miss that feature.
