2K Gameplay is too stale/basic

Here me out here. I've been playing 2K15 PS4 for about a month here and the thing I notice most is how basic and stale the gameplay is. It's just really hard to imitate some real life play style.
  • You can't split the pick and roll
  • The off ball screen is completly useless
  • Pull ups aren't a thing, theres only thoes crazy running fades that you never see in real life
  • There aren't any quick moves in the game to give you a shot, you basically have to dance

Watch this video and Skip to 2:45 and 3:03 thats what I mean by quick moves (sorry don't know how to embed)

Basically all the little things that really good players are able to do are not doable in the game. The entire game is predicated on using a screen, going around that screen, then driving or kicking. Eve something as simple as curling around a screen, receiving a pass but dribbling to a layup isn't possible (the curler always jump stops when he gets the pass).

It's really hard for me to play a sports simulation game when I can't simulate what my favorite players do.

I feel the opposite. I feel like 2ks game play is very advanced.

I could see a silhouette of a player that had certain animations and tell you who that player is.

Yeah they dribble and shoot like the real life counterparts but in no way shape or form they move and cut like real life players. The speed and explosiveness differential for players on 2k is just not realistic, always been a problem. The ball has been one thing that has irked me for years, the game make it seems it weighs 10lbs cause when you shoot and miss it never goes more than 2 foot from the rim , long rebounds/tap outs are a staple in NBA games but you never see em on 2k.

Good point about the long rebounds. I love the game but that is a little thing that would be a great fix for next year!

2K Gameplay is too stale/basic

Don't really agree with much of this at all...guys like Derrick Rose/Russell Westbrook feel like blurs compared with say an MCW who is more deliberate....it's actually one of my favorite things about the game, and what keeps it fresh for me...players feel different.

I do realize some of this is hampered with certain settings, i.e the 'simulation' setting on higher levels....but things like blow by's and pull ups? I pull those off consistently...

EDIT: wasn't there a 'split the pick and roll' animation in another 2k? Can't remember..

The use of the R stick forward (stutter/breakdown) is probably one of the most important aspects of this year.

Re: 2K Gameplay is too stale/basic

A lot of things in this game doesn't stay truth to real life counterparts. I seen a lot of people online cussing about the game like "wtf, wth" or "how did that happen" or "unfreaking believable," "oh God."

1. Player wide open and still get blocked is unacceptable.
2. You boxed out and thought you get an advantage in rebounding and yet the CPU still manage "SOMEHOW" get the rebound. I might as well let the CPU rebound for me if a human can't do it himself lol. The dude from Cavs...Thompson is overpowered in rebound.
3. Things like passing and hitting the backboard turning over the ball is unacceptable. I even had one where I hit the backboard while trying to inbound the ball.
4. Superstar is overpowered when it comes to dunking. Guys like Durant still dunk over you even though you're in good position to prevent that.
5. Automatic animations that you have no control over such as when i am trying to jump to block...my player won't even jump because i guess he's busy trying to finish an animation lol.
6. The shot timing is unpredictable online. Sometimes you had to release quicker and other time you have to release much later and this is assuming you're wide open. I know it's all about lagging but lagging should not prevent you from how long you should press before release a button. For example, why is it that free throw timing is easy despite the lag? That's because you expect it to go in when you know you time it correctly. But not so when it comes to shooting.
7. The alley-oop is overpowering this game. It's so ridiculous easy to do an alley oop that people would just do it when ever they see a guy near the basket. Alley oop should be rare and not easy. It should require timing of the man running to the basket. But in 2K game, the guy running to the basket was way way far from the hoop and yet somehow he was able to get catch the ball anyway.

I'll have to disagree with you on this one. I play with the Pistons and I am able to blow by people with Brandon Jennings. A quick hesitation or in and out move usually give me enough space to get a shot off. Also, the midrange pull up coming off a screen is a deadly weapon for me. Also, off ball screens for KCP and Jodie Meeks work well for me. Although, I will say that I do wish I could split the P&R, but I guess I'll just have to wait for 2K16.

Everygame is different for me. Ive had some games where Drummond gets 15 pts 15 reb and some where he struggles with fouls and only plays 20 minutes. The game feels dynamic, sometimes I win by 20 and sometimes I get blown out. Just my $.02 though
