Anybody like to see a return of The Crib?

I guess I'm feeling nostalgic for NFL 2K days, but since the MyCareer mode is so "realistic" with contract nogotiations and all, wouldn't it be neat to have the Crib return in the NBA 2K series? So as your career progressed, you actually had something else to spend your "money" on besides outfits and signature style updates as you progressed and signed new and bigger contracts? They could even separate this from VC, so your contracts have both a VC value for all the stuff it is currently used for and a "money" value attached for "spending" money.

Like in real life, a league minimum salary bench warmer is probably living in a normal house/apartment with normal stuff. But as you sign bigger contracts, it would be neat to upgrade to a new house, upgrade furnishings in the house, buy new cars, etc. And have your upgrades show up in cut scenes and such.

Then, when you retire, if you blew all your millions on your crib and stuff, you have to sell all your MVP trophies and championship rings, and even declare bankruptcy like Antoine Walker. Now THAT would be the ultimate NBA sim game.

I was getting worried there. It's almost November and we hadn't seen the monthly Crib thread in here.

Thank God for that.

Sorry, I rarely visit this forum. If it is a monthly occurrence that someone posts a Crib thread, then I wouldn't know. Glad I was able to take care of that worry for you.

lol, I'm just kidding.

I think the Crib would be cool to have, but I doubt 2K would bring it back. They won't even bring back Crew and I hear about that nearly every day here. I never really played NFL 2K, but I did play something similar in Smackdown vs. Raw 2006, and from what I've seen, they're pretty alike.

Was it 2K or Live that used PDAs as the height of technological development in a franchise mode?

Re: Anybody like to see a return of The Crib?

I actually really like the idea of a Crib return but I worry of how it'd be implemented in current day. Regarding the MyPlayer type of modes and features, 2K's really taken off with the super fantasy unrealistic angles (the most obvious example being the C-Movie storyline starring a person who looks like us that can't stop acting like a absolute jerk).

I'd trust and welcome a return of the Crib if it were done with an NFL 2K5 mindset. Those guys seemed to know exactly how to implement these things without compromising the integrity of the game. The Crib was just a bonus filled with cool, fun things for people who were interested in that stuff. It gave playing the game more meaning without any sense of chore. It wasn't so much, "Ugh, I can't afford to unlock the right to wear a red arm band" as much as it was, "Oh, sweet, just unlocked 50 Crib points for throwing 300 yards with no INT's with Joey Harrington. I'll take it. I can probably buy that water fountain now."

How to do it right (low key, rich with details & options, no sense of chore):

How to do it halfway (low key, low on details & options, very limited replay value):

I often wonder how NFL 2K5 pulled off their masterpiece in '04-'05. That game seems to have twice as much detail and options (and done with just as much quality - accounting for its time) as most sports games today. We're so quick to say, "There's no time to add (cool extra detail). They need to focus on the important stuff like gameplay."

Yet, there was 2K5 with First Person Football, The Crib, Celebrity Games, Sportscenter Commercial Archives, Dozens of Fully Editable Classic Teams, Classic Logos, Cyber Berman, Sportscenter Wrap-ups, Incredible Cut-scenes That Made Sense, Custom Selectable Endzone Dances (including the C-Walk), An Entire Mode Devoted to Replaying the Top 25 NFL Moments of the Past 25 Years, Draft Preview Shows ft. Mel Kiper Jr., Ultra Authentic TV Presentation (Largely thanks to the ESPN License), and so much more... all in addition to putting forth a tremendous on-field product. What was so different about NFL 2K?

I want the ability to date women. How can I recreate the life of Wilt Chamberlain without this much needed feature in mycareer?

'In 2K16, we introduce our all new game-mode tying in with MyCAREER and replacing MyPARK, "MyHOES". You can also now wrestle mountain lions in your free-time between matches.'
