Stadiums, stadiums, stadiums

I would bet we get them next year.

It wouldn't be that hard to add a draft and salary caps

I know for FIFA 14 if you played the PC version you could use the moddingway mod to add the CONCACAF Champions League into your MLS career. I think there will be a similar patch for FIFA 15.

I would have to agree with the points in the article, although I am not as familiar (at this time) with all of the finer points of the MLS.

I play FIFA "every few years" with my last stint being with the Huston Dynamo in FIFA 10. Since then, the MLS still feels the same for someone who is not familiar with the complete ruleset/functionality of the series:

* The the feeling of the U.S. Open randomly through out the season (how does this work.. meaning, the game should kinda let me know what is going on)
* No trading or loans at the beginning of the season or through out the meat of the season. This is really weird to me, as I had A LOT of contracts expiring on D.C. United and a player (Kitchen) who refused the contract extension and two players retiring (my create a pro since I made him my age -- DOH!).
* A scouting system that only pulls player from the US from other MLS teams (that doesn't feel like scouting to me).
* A salary cap of 4.1-4.3M that never really allows you to do anything with bringing talent into the team

At this time, MLS just feels like it plays like a wall of games without resources to purchase great players and scouts in NA that don't really do anything for me.

The youth system could salvage problems, aside from the issues noted in other threads with youth's problems with physical attributes not improving/growing.

It would be great if there was something that felt more distinctly rich and deep that was North American. Going between teams in the MLS doesn't really satisfy a Manager mode. I don't want to go to the EPL, but it at least has relegation, trades, loans, etc... which leads to a much more dynamic season.

Honestly, when I read other managers experiences in the forums, they do not feel like my experience when playing Manager mode in the MLS. I feel like all the discussions people have about their manager career and tactical decisions others make do not apply to a manager in the MLS. Most players in the EPL are using the MLS as a farm system, and I can see why they are, as the MLS in FIFA 15 doesn't have the depth or experience of playing FIFA 15 in the EPL.

MLS just seems to be pretty flat in FIFA 15.

Am I wrong on my points?

Re: 6 ways the MLS can be improved in FIFA

I wouldn't expect stadiums for a while, definitely Bundesliga and La Liga have more priority in that department in a full perspective. Maybe 1 though would be nice. Especially since they have Century Link from Madden or even Yankee stadium for NYCFC would be awesome. I wouldn't expect CONCACAF next year but I definitely see it in FIFA 17. The US isn't in it this year so it wouldn't have the interest it would generate like it would if they wait a year. Also as for the draft, the MLS has like 12 drafts so I don't see that happening either. One thing I think they could improve for the MLS for the next installment would be faces. Not to many guys in the MLS have real faces and it could generate a lot more quick interest for American buyers in FIFA 16. Honestly don't expect much for the MLS in next years game, 2 years though, should be good.

As for the Canadian national team, they are ranked really low compared to other national teams. I think right now they are in the 120 or 130's. They have never qualified for a FIFA final event either so it's kind of pointless to have them in there. There are definately other countries that should be added soon tho

Re: 6 ways the MLS can be improved in FIFA

What are EA's excuses with the lack of real stadiums or ones that look like the real ones with generic names like how 2K does with MSG due to licensing? I heard there excuses was it is time consuming but explain all those stadiums in the NCAA football series then...? The FIFA development team has way more budget and im assuming more staff members and resources than the NCAA series but yet they put in less effort.

... on the MLS maybe, but not for the scope of the whole game.

That, and the NCAA series doesn't exist anymore, even though they were doing well. Also, they never made as much money as FUT in FIFA and were never a big money maker.

The only point I want to make is there is a futility level for features in a product, where it takes orders of magnitude more people, not linear amounts, to create and maintain new features.

I do agree that a lot of the leagues that aren't EPL or Bundesleague feel "hollow", to me. Whether it is stadiums, league specific events, or the feeling of the MLS. Playing in Europe League 2 feels COMPLETELY different than being in the MLS, which feels stale and not as dynamic.

FIFA already has a lot of core content. Creating and maintaining that core content should be at capacity now without changing the strategy for HOW they are doing the game. This is about true for all the sports sim games that are on top (MLB, FIFA, Madden), in my opinion and experience.

It does need to be done, however, as the MLS is a perfect example of features added that aren't fully baked (and has been this way since FIFA10, IIRC).
