Need money advice for playing the titans or bucs

So, I am from Tampa Bay area, and trying to play as the bucs or the titans. I have tried changing the ticket prices to all various levels multiple times. Have also cut some high profile players. I usually try to simulate the first year to get to the draft. But, my problem is this, at the end of each year im usually negative 10 million or more. By the end of the draft its usually negative 40 and I cant make another year, so it retires me.

What can I do to change this? Do I have to move the teams? Is playing better, so I can win? What are some of the strategies that have worked for you all. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ive only played owner mode as the Chargers, but my understanding is that if you are a coach, the only money you have to worry about it is the salary cap. Maybe start another one as the coach of a team and then sim to the offseason. Once there, you can retire and become the owner of the team, Now you should have a decent amount of funds and the draft is right around the corner.

Give this a try and let me know if it works

I am in season 2 with the Bucs, won the Super Bowl. I adjust prices based on Fan social media feedback as well as the advisor across the board. I ended the season with $20 million. I played the season, All Pro, I think I lost one or two games and had many close ones. I don't give signing bonuses, so it doesn't take any money out immediately.

Season two I am half way through and up about $2 million. I was down around -$10 million because I had like 4 away games in a row. Also for season 2 I have a new stadium, the deluxe dome, it has more seats, more suits and higher income.

Season 2 I put McCoy as the Franchise Tag and resigned him to a $70 million 6 year contract, no signing bonus and did it with -$3 million so you can resign in the negative.

The Secret is winning..

Tampa already has a fan base down on the team.. The Stadium needs tons of upgrades..

The $$ is only effected by bonus's So cutting players that get a bonus will pay them ASAP.

So simulating and LOSING is hurting you.. you have to win to get max $ for ticket sales..

Also when you resign like Gerald mccoy you have to give him no signing bonus.. and higher salary... Also start as a created owner, I go to Mogal and make Joel Glazer.. Mogel gives you 7 mil instead of 5 mil.

Bucs are really hard.. if you move them to LA, Tons of money..

I play coach mode cause the money issues make it no fun lol

Owner mode is broken, anyone that tells you different is lying. The guy below is a flat out liar. Unless there is a way to change the player logic when they resign you will never sign a marquee player like McCoy without giving bonus money. They will reject your contract and their negotiating status will go to not interested. If you plan on retaining any player of value you simply can't play owners mode.

Resigned players without bonuses? Sure you did, pal.

It can be done, you just need to offer more in salary. If you have the Resign trait unlocked for that position you may need a smaller salary compared to the cr@pload you'd need otherwise (hope you turned salary cap off).

Player resigning appears to be probability based anyway. To test this, in a cfm with the Giants I needed to resign JPP. After selecting but before submitting my offer I saved my file. Submit offer. Note result. Back out, reload cfm file. Repeat.

JPP didn't take the offer every time, but 7 out of 10 times he did.

When the Resign trait was added, he always resigned (10/10), but its worth noting that I made no changes to the financials, and since the non-trait acceptance offer was high to begin with, I'm not comfortable claiming that the Resign trait always works.

Regarding resigning w/out bonus; I've done it multiple times with reserve-rated players but I haven't tried it with starters.

Re: Need money advice for playing the titans or bucs

These are just my findings and what has worked for me:

Winning is the magic formula. I started a Jags franchise for the challenge. I made in to the divisional round. Having 2 playoff games was HUGE for my bottom line. By that time almost all expenses are paid for so its all gravy money. It doesn't hurt that you can really hammer up your prices in the playoffs for games.

Being diligent about what my ticket prices really helped me. There are games you can charge more for, there are games you have to charge less. I also found it's important to keep in mind that putting more butts in the seats will help you sell more concession and merchandise.

With merchandise you will sell more jerseys if those players have good years. Bortles went over 5000 yards in his first year (although he threw a ridiculous amount of picks) and it really helped selling jerseys.

When it comes to the offseason and signing players. I don't get worked up about resigning every player (or any if the price tag isn't ok). Chances are you will likely overpay for a lot of guys, especially coming off a good year. There ARE good deals in free agency, look for players that are not drawing a lot of interest from other teams. I was able to sign LG Mankins, WR Garcon, CB Smith, and DT Fairley all to multi year deals for under 1M a year with no signing bonus. All these players were 90 overall or close and cost me very little. Don't be afraid to throw guys some stupid offers; you never know. What's the worst that's going to happen? You're going to have a virtual character say no?.. Should be able to live with that..
