How Do You Pick A Club

How does everyone decide on picking a club for career mode? I usually just randomly select each category (Country, League, Team) while closing my eyes and holding the stick to the right for 30 seconds or so. HAHA.

I think I read somewhere that it was suggested to research the origin of your last name, and then pick the club that is closest to that city/town/village, etc. I think I might give that a try.

Re: How Do You Pick A Club

Personally I am a big fan of the Irish. And Germans. (I have a long line of beer drinkers in my family tree lol Irish and Gsrman heritage mostly)...Anyway that caused me to invest time into Airtricty and Bundesliga as opposed to the EPL and Spain and Italy.

My top two pics from Airtricity and Bundesliga are #1 - St. Pats (Airtricity) & #2 - Borussia Monchengladbach Bundesliga...i liked their colors and name.

I've ventured into Tippelgaen (Norway), Eredivise (Netherlands, when Altidore played for AZ), and last year took a spin over in Denmark.

My best finish with St. Pats is in the sig.
I have played at least 4-5 full seasons since 12 with my boys. I grab them online (u know how badly it hurts to play random Barca and random Real Madrid with St Pats?) Lol.

Re: How Do You Pick A Club

for me it depends on what kind of career I want to be in. Lately I've been into taking teams from the ground up which is why I picked a League 2 team. I looked at all the teams in the league and took the one I thought had the lowest rating. I was actually surprised to see some decent players on the team (considering). It's been fun to get promoted to League 1 and the Championship and now I'm trying to get them to the BPL.

Re: How Do You Pick A Club

I'm new to the FIFA series and it might sound overly simple, but I've tried to choose my career mode team based on their home and away jerseys first (alternate jerseys are a big plus), then decide based on their starting budgets, place in their leagues' standings, and stadiums (both the team's and the variety in the league) more or less in that order.

I recently figured out that I can edit the default home stadiums for teams from the main settings menu, and that may complicate my decision making because now I might try and replace the teams with the Town Park stadium and make a league have more larger stadiums to improve the atmosphere. It just seems weird to see a league with a few big stadiums and a bunch of tiny stadiums.

My first attempt at career mode was a disaster, I messed up the finance side of things and couldn't figure out how to fix it, so I'm thinking of starting a new one with a Russian Premier League team and replace some of the stadiums in the league to reflect some of the new stadiums being built for the 2018 World Cup that are going to be used by some of those teams. Or I might play as a 2. Bundesliga team, give them a bigger stadium and look to move up to the 1st division.

I guess it's not as hard if you already have a favorite team (or three) . First I start with the Union since they are my local team. Before they existed I supported Cork City in Ireland because that is where some of my ancestors lived over there. Finally I go with Newcastle because I picked them as my EPL team in August '13 when NBC started broadcasting all the games here in America. It's a nice variation between the big-time EPL, medium MLS and tiny Airtricity.

I just wish they had the real MLS stadiums. Even the Irish teams get more realistic grounds. Some like "Town Park" actually look like some of the ones in Ireland.

Also have done the family thing, although I can only use them online as one of my Scottish family members is a Rangers fan. Also, to the MLS point, I have a hunch that will be coming next year, MLS is undergoing a huge rebrand so I could see that happening.

I agree. And I should have a PS4 by then so I won't have to worry about LastGen missing out.

Re: How Do You Pick A Club

I just choose which league to play in. Then I go to Kick-Off and use the "random team" feature in that league. I ended up with Shrewsbury this time and have already gotten them to the Championship division. Currently 15th place in the first year in the Championship, but the board wants a top 10 finish. I'm only 6 points behind 10th placed Birmingham.
