3-4 Defense in Madden 15

How is the 3-4 defense this year in Madden? I've heard people say that its difficult to generate a consistent pass rush with it and that its weak against the run? Can anyone confirm if these are real issues? I've been playing MUT for the most part and I've been running a 4-3 defense with that. I'm also in an online ccm as the Falcons running a 4-3. I'm a big 3-4 guy, I run the 3-4 every year but I just haven't had the chance to really check it out yet.

I was wondering how it would be running a 3-4 defense but just use the 4-3 formations. So for example you would put your pass rushing ROLB as your starting nose tackle would be DT#1 and your RE that would be a 3-4 RE would be DT#2. You would then put your starting 3-4 LE at the LE position. Your two inside linebackers would play the ROLB and MLB positions on the depth chart. Lastly the LOLB position would then be your 3-4 OLB. This would basically give you a 3-4 front but with 4 players in 3 point stance instead of two. Has anyone tried this method before to see if it actually works.

I would assume with this you could do various blitzes with the LOLB and drop the 3-4 ROLB that would be playing at the RE position in to coverage. Just curious how this would work compared to running a 3-4 defense out of 3-4 formations.

Like everything else in this game if you have at least an intermediate understanding of how to call proper defense and not just pick random plays (like in years past) it's really not that difficult to use a 3-4. It is my main defense and I have no problem stopping the run or rushing the QB. It also helps if you have the correct personnel for a 3-4.

Re: 3-4 Defense in Madden 15

The normal 3-4 defense has your 2 outside LBs as great pass rushers. Your 2 inside LBs need to be great versus the run and coverage. Your 3 down lineman are usually bigger space eaters for your LBs to attack. But some of the lineman can drop in coverage in zone blitzes but they rarely work in Madden. One thing Madden hasn't gotten right is how the nose tackle in a 3-4 is a big catalyst in the 3-4 scheme where they take up 2 blocks for your LBs. Think of Casey Hampton from Pittsburgh or Ngata in Baltimore.

It drives me nuts when the NT gets 3 sacks in a game in Madden sometimes

its really all in your style of defense so go with what you normally run. I am a 3-4 guy and when i rarely try a 4-3 I get torn up in NCAA or Madden
