Jaguars Replace Bradley With Brunell
(Jacksonville, FL) - The Jacksonville Jaguars received quite the shock yesterday when popular head coach Gus Bradley announced his retirement to focus on family. Bradley was instrumental in lighting a fire under players and turning around a season in which they started 0-8 by winning 4 of their last 8 games to finish the year at 4-12 which was good enough for 3rd place is the AFC South division. Bradley's defense, which was modeled after the scheme he implemented while defensive coordinator in Seattle, showed some big improvements late in the year. Bradley's disguised blitz packages and increased pressure up front led to more quarterback hurries, something the Jaguars have been sorely lacking the past 5 years.
Brunell seen talking to owner Shad Khan last season
Taking his place this coming season is former Jaguars quarterback and Pride of the Jaguars member Mark Brunell. Brunell, who has been a color commentator for Jaguars preseason games the past few years, was expected to be an ESPN NFL analyst this year before the surprise announcement came. Brunell has no official experience coaching in the NFL but does believe he can continue Bradley's developing legacy. "We brought in a lot of new offensive weapons this offseason, both in free agency and the draft, and we are looking forward to big improvements on that side of the ball this year," he said. The message to Jaguars fans is clear, do not sleep on this team this season because we will challenge the division to make the playoffs.
