STARTING LINEUP

Point Guard: Jeremy Lin

Apart from being a deft passer, Lin has established himself as a strong, fast-paced offensive player who attacks the basket and excels at the pick-and-roll. He has also been considered difficult to defend at times because of his ability to get to the free-throw line. He has, however, been criticized for his tendency to commit turnovers, as well as his relatively mediocre defense

Shooting Guard: Kobe Bryant

Standing at 6 feet, 6 inches tall (1.98 m) and weighing 205 pounds (93 kg), Bryant primarily plays as a guard, Bryant is often cited as one of the most dangerous scorers in the NBA. Aside from his abilities on offense, he has established himself as a standout defender, having made the All-Defensive first or second team twelve of the last thirteen seasons. Bryant rarely draws charges playing defense, which he believes has spared his body and contributed to his longevity. Bryant is lauded for his work ethic. Bryant will be expected to call plays from time to time this season.

Small Forward: Nick Young

Young is a well-established scorer with a deadly three point shot, Young looks to build on last year with another good year. Young tends to focus on offense more than defense. But with Kobe back in the line up and Lin in at point, Young will have to deal with less looks and more defense. Time for Swaggy P to turn into Swaggy D.

Power Forward: Julius Randle

Center: Carlos Boozer

Since his 2002–03 rookie year, Boozer has finished the season among the NBA's top ten performers in field goal percentage seven times and has been among the top ten rebounders five times. He is highly regarded by scouts and sports journalists for his strength, rebounding and offensive skill set. For example, David Thorpe, an analyst for ESPN.com, lists Boozer among the "game's best post players" and among the best at scoring (or "finishing") under the basket using either hand. Boozer credits his father for helping him develop his ambidextrous ability.
