NBA 2K15 Spacing

I mentioned this in the Gamescom thread, but wanted to get fellow OS members thoughts.

The one improvement I would like for 2K to address this year (although there are others that could be mentioned) is..... *drum roll please*..... spacing! When I watch NBA Live in action, I always wish the spacing would be just as good in 2K. I'm wondering if the dimensions of the court versus the size of the players that 2K have is the problem. It is so tough to run an offense (or defensive set), when the players start running into each other like bumper cars to get into a set.

This is quite prevalent when the CPU is running a fastbreak and the whole team (both CPU and User) collapses to the baseline and a 'bumper car' animation kicks in and everyone starts bumping into each other to get back into the offensive set.

I actually have tried to remedy this 'spacing' issue by taking these awesome roster sets by our expert roster guys and editing their height and body type to try and mimic the player models in Live 14. It doesn't solve the issue, but it remedies it to an extent.

Any thoughts?

Re: NBA 2K15 Spacing

I noticed that in the PS3/360 Crew screenshots, the spacing was significantly different. I hope that's the case for a PS4/XB1. I felt the spacing in 2K14 was a disaster, it seemed as if the ball was turned over almost every possession.

Well, they can start by not having the AI randomly loading up the strong side of the floor. Even the little things, such as when the ballhandler picks up his dribble, none of his teammates attempt to relieve him. He'll be stranded on an island in prime position to have a pass picked off.

Re: NBA 2K15 Spacing

From what I've seen 2K14NG has one of the worst spacing the series ever had. What hurts it even more is the fact that players without the ball hit full speed in one third of a second in any direction. They need to adress that, it makes it look like a horrible mess. Passing has also regressed.

I'am hoping for some big improvements in thoses areas or it will be hard to convince me.

Re: NBA 2K15 Spacing

i will cherish the day i can play 2k and actually be able to do what guys like cp3/nash/rondo do and get into the paint, not to score, but to go back out the otherside opening up pass/drive lines

Re: NBA 2K15 Spacing

The poor spacing in 2k14 is the main reason why i traded this game in a few months ago. It was really starting to do my head in. I pray that they have fixed it for 2k15. Its the main area of the gameplay i want to see fixed.

Re: NBA 2K15 Spacing

I used to think the player models were to big. But its a few other issues I think.

1. Most obvious is sliding animations. It lets players zip from spot to spot and makes the court feel much smaller.

2. Broken plays. Watching 8 players running into each other is quite a log jam.

3. Probably the worst are the defensive bump back animations. A poster above said they'd love to zip in and out of the paint with PGs. Well you cant because the slightest contact bumps them back. As we all know, PGs accept defenders and ride the contact. This needs to be taken into account.

Having said this, I would not be surprised if the players were too big

Re: NBA 2K15 Spacing

The thing that bothers me is that NBA 2K gets praised so much about how deep the gameplay is about how realistic the game is and how many strategic options there are. But the fundamental element of basketball is broken and that is spacing. How can you call a game realistic when the the basis of the sport isnt impelemented (to be fair 14 last gen was ok with spacing)?? I cant play the game like I play basketball in real life or how I want it to be played because this element is broken. I will be furious if I see bad spacing on wednesday again ..
