Smile [PS4] NBA 2K15 Fictional Draft Class - Create your own player!

NBA 2K15 FICTIONAL DRAFT CLASS PROJECT

Hi, and welcome to the 3rd edition my project for NBA 2K15 for PlayStation 4. Now renamed "Fictional Draft Class", the goal remains the same: to make a draft class that is more realistic for MyLEAGUE rather than the randomly generated ones by default. Instead of making real players (who are actually in college, high school, etc.), I want to make a custom, fantasy draft class with created players. I invite all of you to fill out an application and create your own prospect. There will be multiple draft classes and you do not have to use them in order (ex: 2015 class, then 2017 class. You can hop around the years because they're fake). This will be a lot like what the draft classes are like in Madden's Connected Franchise mode, so feel free to add a storyline for your player(s), too.

To create a player, just fill out an application, which can be found later in this post. By submitting your player via the Google Form, it allows me to organize the players better than ever before. You may notice that there are different tiers. These are used to stick to the realistic idea to make sure that there is an even ranking of prospects. The higher the tier is, the higher the draft stock of the player is. Tiers like A and B have less spots and therefore can't accept as many prospects as the other tiers, so if you want to guarantee that your player makes it, either make him a lower tier or suggest that when you fill out the application.

*NEW* Google Form Application

Filling out an application just got a whole lot easier. Follow the link and fill out the application as you normally would, but it's much smoother now and makes it 10x easier for me to read them all. Also, it gives me room to add pictures, videos, more customization, etc.

Here's the embedded version, in spoilers to reduce space:

NOTABLE PROSPECTS

For the prospects who just missed the "Top Recruits" cut ...

Jeremy Early - 6'9" 215 SF/SG - Arizona

Comparison: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Strengths: Great size and length for a wing ... superb athlete ... has good shooting mechanics ... fantastic ball handler for his size ... solid court vision ... can play multiple positions ... potential is through the roof.
Weaknesses: Very raw ... not the best defender ... isn't aggressive on the boards despite size ... very thin, needs to add strength ... needs to go for more blocks on defense rather than fouling.
Analysis: Top 10 - Very good kid and has a tremendous work ethic. Isn't quite there yet but has the potential to be a very special player in this league.

Mark Freeman - 6'6" 215 SG/SF - Auburn

Comparison: J.R. Smith
Strengths: Great athleticism and physical tools for an NBA SG ... quick first step and explosion to the rim ... elite dunker ... very good shooter on spot-ups and off the bounce ... can create a shot out of nothing ... has the handles of a PG.
Weaknesses: Isn't a very passionate defender ... can get a little wild sometimes with the ball ... isn't very efficient offensively ... settles for too many "long 2s" ... decision making is questionable ... not a great free throw shooter ... no post game.
Analysis: Top 10 - Missed most of his freshman season with a broken arm, but came back and brought Auburn to its first Final Four birth while averaging 25pts along the way.

Hakeem Olamendi - 6'9" 250 PF/C - Houston

Comparison: Al Jefferson
Strengths: A highly skilled post player ... has a wide variety of post moves, fakes, shots ... has the strength on the low block to play both the 4 & 5 ... a quality passer for a big ... good at finishing with both hands ... high IQ offensive weapon.
Weaknesses: Limited by his lack of quickness and athleticism ... a streaky shooter outside of 15 feet ... doesn't have much of a handle ... gets lost on defense ... fails to rotate at times ... low defensive upside.
Analysis: Top 10 - An old school big man who models his game after Hakeem and Kareem. In a league where skilled big men are hard to come by, he could prove to have tremendous value.

Kris Reese - 6'5" 185 Defensive PG/SG - Villanova

Comparison: Shaun Livingston
Strengths: A freakishly big point guard ... 6'5" with a 7'0" wingspan and huge hands ... shoots over defenders, even bigs ... can take normal sized PGs down in the post ... has serious lockdown defensive potential ... alters shots with length ... a pest in the passing lanes ... moves his feet on D ... solid offensive skillset.
Weaknesses: Isn't much of a shooter at this stage ... has mechanics down but can't hit many shots ... not the most explosive athlete ... doesn't create much space with his handle ... a bit careless with the ball ... throws some lazy passes ... still very raw all-around.
Analysis: Lottery - It may have been best for Kris to stay in college another year. However, he has elite two-way potential, and is only 19 years old. Could see his stock rise come draft day.

Marquis Fields - 7'0" 240 C - Kentucky

Comparison: DeAndre Jordan
Strengths: Outstanding size and build ... amazing athlete ... very long arms ... elite shot blocker ... solid rebounder ... great at putback slams ... huge target for lob passes ... lots of potential.
Weaknesses: Failed to live up to expectations ... not a skilled player offensively ... can't shoot outside of 7 feet ... not disciplined defensively ... can get too hot-headed at times ... some off-the-court issues ... bad basketball IQ ... questionable work ethic.
Analysis: Lottery - Was one of the most highly rated and hyped player of his class. Came to Kentucky his freshman year and failed to capitalize. Has various red flags surrounding him, but the potential is there.

Jalen Alexander - 6'7" 226 SF/PF - Pittsburgh

Comparison: Carmelo Anthony
Strengths: One of the top scorers in the draft ... can hurt you from inside and outside ... great range on his shot ... excels at establishing post position ... has various post moves and jab steps to create space ... has some guard skills.
Weaknesses: Not the greatest defender ... doesn't crash the glass as much as he should ... a bit undersized ... struggles to finish through contact & length ... doesn't convert a high % of free throws ... average athlete.
Analysis: Lottery - A talented, versatile offensive player who can hurt you in a variety of ways. Has some injury concerns but could be deadly as a 6th man early on.

Dante Myers - 6'6" 220 Scoring SG/SF - Baylor

Comparison: Arron Afflalo
Strengths: A natural scorer but a versatile player all-around ... can finish through contact ... likes to create his own shot ... great court vision ... good rebounder for his size ... potential star.
Weaknesses: A poor defender ... struggles containing penetration ... gets lost on defense sometimes ... doesn't force turnovers on D ... good athlete but not all that explosive.
Analysis: Lottery - A very versatile guard who can score with the best of them but is a very skilled and willing passer. Has to shore up some things on the defensive end but a talented player.

Brandon Koetze - 6'11" 252 All-Around PF/C - Wisconsin

Comparison: Pau Gasol
Strengths: A big bulky finesse big man who plays both inside and out ... can stretch the defense out to the 3-point line ... has many creative post moves and finishes ... a gifted passer for a big ... good rebounder ... great touch around the rim ... continues to be more aggressive and keep improving.
Weaknesses: Not a bad athlete but isn't the quickest or the most mobile ... gives effort but simply isn't much of a defender ... prone to being too passive and "soft" at times ... isn't all that explosive ... can settle for too many jumpers.
Analysis: Lottery - One of the most improved players in the nation. Had a disappointing freshman year but came back a more physical and consistent player. Lead Wisconsin to a deep postseason run and won the award for the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

Dave Baker - 5'11" 165 Pass First PG - Germany

Comparison: Ricky Rubio
Strengths: A gifted passer who is always getting his teammates involved ... sees openings that nobody else can ... a gritty, shutdown on-ball defender ... racks up the steals ... has a nice floater ... impressive athlete.
Weaknesses: Size is small even for high school standards ... only 5'11 165 pounds ... struggles with his jumpshot, especially from 3 ... isn't a threat off-the-ball ... gets lost when he has to chase his man around on D ... can't create shots for himself.
Analysis: Lottery - Baker is an unselfish team-first player, but sometimes that hurts his own play. He simply has to become a better shooter or he risks becoming a bust, especially since he's very undersized to begin with.

Cameron Reed - 6'3" 185 Scoring SG/PG - Mercer

Comparison: Kemba Walker / Jimmer Fredette?
Strengths: A talented scorer with a knack for hitting tough shots ... great shooter ... can take players one-on-one ... gets to the foul line ... good pull-up jumper ... clutch performer ... decent defender ... good athlete ... unique improvisation skills.
Weaknesses: Undersized for a 2-guard ... not much of a passer ... a shooting guard in a point guard's body ... doesn't have much length ... inefficient at times ... gets lost on defense ... questions if he can finish over NBA players ... not an explosive athlete to make up for shortcomings ... fear that his college success won't transfer over.
Analysis: Mid-Late 1st - One of the most well known players in sports. Reed has had as many clutch shots and memorable games as any player in college history. Lead Mercer all the way to the Elite 8 where they lost to Wisconsin. Questions surround him about whether his elite scoring ability translates to the pros. A college basketball legend who will bring the media everywhere with him, but not necessarily a locker room distraction himself. Somebody will reach for him on draft day, but projects to be taken around the 16-24 range.

NOTABLE PROSPECTS

For the prospects who just missed the "Top Recruits" cut ...

Garry Lewis

Antonio Silva

Joshua Adams

Ricky Reeves

Justin Cash - 6'6" 188 SG/PG - Kentucky

Comparison: Nick Young
Strengths: Very good size for a 2-guard ... lights-out shooter ... can come off screens, spot up, create his own shot ... exceptional athlete ... plays above the rim ... fantastic handles ... has some fancy finishes ... known for his clutch play.
Weaknesses: Horrific shot selection ... frequently takes step-back 3s and fadeaways ... a black hole on offense ... only looks for his own shot ... isn't motivated to play defense ... needs to put on some weight ... doesn't play within the flow of the offense ... a coach's nightmare on the court.
Analysis: Lottery - A very high-profile, charismatic personality; a funny guy. He loves to shoot, to say the least. But boy ... he can be very clutch. He broke down in tears when Kentucky lost. He's all about the moolah and decided to come back to develop his "swag" and increase his earning potential. Got suspended for violation of team rules and missed parts of 2016, but showed up big for the tournament. A top-5 talent, but has many question marks.
