AFL-Australian Football League

FS2 shows AFL games in my area. Times vary, but they've usually on around 1:30AM CST. I usually DVR them.

On Saturday St. Kilda hammered Fremantle. 17 16 118 to 9 6 60

On Sunday Western Bulldogs and Essendon went down to the wire. 14 10 94 to 15 11 101

The score reads - Goals (6pts), Behinds (1pt), Total.

Still learning the rules, haven't picked a favorite club yet.

I enjoy watching the sport.

Does anyone else, on OS, follow Aussie Rules Football?

Not carried on TV much in my neck of the woods. Ever seen this game?

Re: AFL-Australian Football League

I found a site that has the upcoming FS2 listings. I will probably DVR at least some of them. I don't understand all of the strategy, but it is entertaining.

There is actually a small hurling club in my town. They have a couple nights per year where they invite beginners to try it out, but I've never tried it myself.

After looking at some You Tube videos and reading info, I've come to the conclusion that the sport is combination of soccer and basketball with the tackling element of Rugby.

Re: AFL-Australian Football League

I've picked Melbourne Football Club to root for.

Founded in 1858 and nicknamed the Demons.

Re: AFL-Australian Football League

I've been starting to get into it a little myself. I've been supporting N. Melbourne mainly because it was Sav Rocca's most recent club before he came to the Eagles. Stick with what you know, I suppose. They're having a decent season sitting at 10-7. Just got beat by Carlton on Friday (err... Thursday) by a score of 16, 13, 108 to 13, 8, 86. They fell behind early, clawed their way back into it, but the wheels fell off in the 4th. Disappointing as Carlton is fairly far down on the ladder. Although, I don't get to watch games much (haven't seen one all season) because I don't get FS2. So, I have to settle for just the match reports and highlights on AFL.com. Still really hazy on some of the rules, but it's a really fun game to watch.

Re: AFL-Australian Football League

Well the matches this weekend were a blow out and back and fourth.

Brisbane 16 14 110 v Gold Coast 8 8 56. This match was a blowout from the get go, as the Q score line below shows.

Brisbane Lions 7.7 10.11 11.12 16.14 (110)
Gold Coast 1.2 3.3 4.4 8.8 (56)

The Sunday match between Collingwood and Adelaide was entertaining and tied with 8' left in Q4. That's when Adelaide ran away with it. Adelaide was pretty wasteful, hitting the post 6 times, which resulted in 6 Behinds instead of Goals.

Collingwood 12 10 82 v Adelaide 14 14 98

COLLINGWOOD 3.0 5.4 8.8 12.10 (82)
ADELAIDE 5.5 7.8 9.13 14.14 (98)
